The film has been described as a modern day adaptation of the ancient Greek play Lysistrata by Aristophanes, set against the backdrop of gang violence in Chicago. The album features the film’s original music composed by Valentin Hadjadj. The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 30, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. April and the Extraordinary World is directed by Christian Desmares & Franck Ekinci and features the voice of Marion Cotillard as the title character in the French original version. The movie produced by Je Suis Bien Content, the animation studio behind Persepolis, is set in 1941 and follows a teenage girl who goes in search of her missing scientist parents. Danny Elfman revealed in an interview with L.A. Weekly that he is working on David O. Russell’s upcoming drama Joy. The film stars Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper, Edgar Ramirez, Diane Ladd, Virginia Madsen, Isabella Rossellini and Elisabeth Röhm. The movie tells the true story of a struggling Long Island single mom who became one of the country’s most successful entrepreneurs after inventing the Miracle Mop. Russell has written the screenplay based on a story by himself and Annie Mumolo (Bridesmaids). He is also producing the project with John Davis (Predator, I, Robot, The Blacklist), Jonathan Gordon (Silver Linings Playbook), Megan Ellison (Zero Dark Thirty, Her, Foxcatcher) and Ken Mok (Invincible). ‘The Knick’ Season 2 Soundtrack Announced

Milan Records will release a new soundtrack album for the Cinemax original series The Knick. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Cliff Martinez (Traffic, Drive, Contagion, Solaris, Sex, Lies and Videotapes). The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 30, 2015. A CD version is set to come out on December 18 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The label has previously released a soundtrack album featuring music from the first season. The Knick is directed by Steven Soderbergh, created by Jack Amiel & Michael Begler and stars Clive Owen, Andre Holland, Juliet Rylance, Eve Hewson, Collin Meath and Michael Angarano. Harry Escott has recently recorded his music for the upcoming British spy thriller Damascus Cover. The film is directed by Daniel Zelik Berk and stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Olivia Thirlby, John Hurt, Igal Naor, Jurgen Prochnow and Navid Negahban. The movie is based on Howard Kaplan’s best-selling 1977 novel and follows a spy who navigates the precarious terrain of love and survival during an undercover mission in Syria. Berk has also co-written the screenplay with Samantha Newton. Hannah Leader & Huw Jones are producing the project for Big Book Media, alongside Joe Thomas (The Man Who Knew Infinity). Premiering tomorrow, October 26, is the CBS drama Supergirl based on the DC Comics property, developed by Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler & Sarah Schechter and starring Melissa Benoist, Calista Flockhart, Mehcad Brooks, David Harewood and Chyler Leigh. The show’s original music is composed by Blake Neely (The Flash, Arrow, Blindspot, No Ordinary Family, The Mentalist, Life As We Know It). Michael Giacchino Named Film Composer of the Year at World Soundtrack Awards

Michael Giacchino has been named Film Composer of the Year 2015 at the 15th World Soundtrack Awards, tonight’s closing event of the 42nd Ghent Film Festival. The composer’s output over the last year includes such titles as Inside Out, Tomorrowland, Jupiter Ascending and this year’s highest grossing film, Jurassic World. Giacchino previously received a World Soundtrack Award in the Discovery of a Year category back in 2006. In the Best Original Film Score of the Year category, Antonio Sanchez was honored for his score to this year’s Best Picture winner at the Academy Awards, Birdman: Or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance). Opening in most theaters is the fantasy adventure The Last Witch Hunter directed by Breck Eisner and starring Vin Diesel, Elijah Wood, Rose Leslie, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Julie Engelbrecht and Michael Caine. The film’s original music is composed by Steve Jablonsky (Transformers, Ender’s Game, The Island, Desperate Housewives). Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Also opening wide is the comedy Rock the Kasbah directed by Barry Levinson and starring Bill Murray, Kate Hudson, Zooey Deschanel, Danny McBride, Scott Caan, Bruce Willis and Leem Lubany. Marcelo Zarvos (The Affair, The Good Shepherd, Enough Said, What Just Happened) has composed the film’s original score. Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring two tracks from the composer’s music, as well as the songs from the film by artists including Bob Dylan, Isa Machine & LP and Harry Nilsson. ‘Crimson Peak’ Soundtrack Details

Quartet Records has released a soundtrack album for Guillermo del Toro’s gothic romance Crimson Peak. The album features the film’s original music composed by Fernando Velazquez (Mama, The Orphanage, The Impossible, Devil, Hercules). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. A CD version is set to be released next month. Crimson Peak is co-written and directed by del Toro and stars Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston, Charlie Hunnam and Jim Beaver. The movie is set in the aftermath of a family tragedy and follows an aspiring author who is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider.
