Variety is reporting that director J.J. Abrams will compose the score for the upcoming sci-fi adventure The Great Beyond. The film is written and directed by Abrams and stars Glen Powell, Jenna Ortega, Emma Mackey, Merritt Wever, Sophie Okonedo and Samuel L. Jackson. No plot details have been announced yet. Abrams is also producing the project with Tommy Gormley. The director has previously composed the main titles themes for the TV shows Alias, Lost, Fringe and Duster. He previously collaborated with composer John Williams on his last two features, Star Wars: The Force Awakens & The Rise of Skywalker, and Michael Giacchino on all of his other movies, including Mission: Impossible III, Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness and Super 8, as well as David Robert Mitchell’s upcoming The End of Oak Street, which he is producing. The Great Beyond is set to be released in theaters nationwide on October 1, 2027 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
