Variety is reporting that director J.J. Abrams will compose the score for the upcoming sci-fi adventure The Great Beyond. The film is written and directed by Abrams and stars Glen Powell, Jenna Ortega, Emma Mackey, Merritt Wever, Sophie Okonedo and Samuel L. Jackson. No plot details have been announced yet. Abrams is also producing the project with Tommy Gormley. The director has previously composed the main titles themes for the TV shows Alias, Lost, Fringe and Duster.

Soundtrack Album for HBO Max’s ‘Duster’ to Be Released
Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the (HBO) Max original series Duster. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Laura Karpman (American Fiction, Captain America: Brave New World, Miss Marvel, The Marvels, Paris Can Wait, Set It Up, What If…?). Also included is the main theme written by series co-creator J.J. Abrams. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, August 8 and will be available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ 3-LP Set Deluxe Edition Soundtrack Announced
Varèse Sarabande and Craft Recordings have announced the first-ever vinyl release of the expanded deluxe edition soundtrack album for J.J. Abrams’ 2013 sci-fi adventure Star Trek Into Darkness starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Karl Urban, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood and Benedict Cumberbatch. The album featuring the film’s original score composed by Michael Giacchino (Up, The Incredibles, Jurassic World, Lost, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Ratatouille, The Batman) is being released on vinyl as a 3-LP Blue, Red, and Yellow set themed after the iconic Starfleet uniforms. The collection, which includes a 16-page booklet with behind-the-scenes photos from the set and notes from Abrams and Giacchino, will be released on September 6. The 3-LP tricolor set (limited to 1,000 copies) is now available for pre-order on Amazon (and other North American retailers), while a Translucent Clear set will be available for the rest of the world.

Bear McCreary Scoring ‘Cloverfield’ Movie ‘God Particle’
Bear McCreary has composed the music for the next installment in the Cloverfield series, God Particle. The film is directed by Julius Onah and stars David Oyelowo, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris O’Dowd, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ziyi Zhang and Daniel Brühl. The movie is set in the near future and tells the story of a team of astronauts on a space station who make a terrifying discovery involving a new energy source and their desperate fight for survival. Oren Uziel (22 Jump Street) and Doug Jung (Star Trek: Beyond, Confidence) wrote the screenplay. J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Trek, Lost, Alias) and Lindsey Weber are producing the project for Bad Robot Productions.
John Williams to Return for ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’
John Williams confirmed in a recent interview with Variety that he will be returning to score the final installment in the third Star Wars trilogy. The currently untitled Episode IX will reunite him with director J.J. Abrams who previously helmed 2015’s The Force Awakens. Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac are set to star in the movie, which will be produced by Kathleen Kennedy. Williams has previously scored all eight episodes in the Star Wars saga and is also writing the theme for the main character in the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story.
’10 Cloverfield Lane’ Soundtrack Details
Sparks & Shadows Records will release a soundtrack album for the sci-fi mystery thriller 10 Cloverfield Lane. The album features the film’s original music composed by Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica, The Walking Dead, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Boy, Outlander). The soundtrack will be released digitally on March 11, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. 10 Cloverfield Lane is directed by Dan Trachtenberg and stars John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Gallagher Jr. The movie produced by J.J.
