Varèse Sarabande and Craft Recordings have announced the first-ever vinyl release of the expanded deluxe edition soundtrack album for J.J. Abrams’ 2013 sci-fi adventure Star Trek Into Darkness starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Karl Urban, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood and Benedict Cumberbatch. The album featuring the film’s original score composed by Michael Giacchino (Up, The Incredibles, Jurassic World, Lost, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Ratatouille, The Batman) is being released on vinyl as a 3-LP Blue, Red, and Yellow set themed after the iconic Starfleet uniforms. The collection, which includes a 16-page booklet with behind-the-scenes photos from the set and notes from Abrams and Giacchino, will be released on September 6. The 3-LP tricolor set (limited to 1,000 copies) is now available for pre-order on Amazon (and other North American retailers), while a Translucent Clear set will be available for the rest of the world.

‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Deluxe Edition Soundtrack Announced
Varese Sarabande has announced a deluxe edition for J.J. Abrams’ 2013 sci-fi action adventure Star Trek Into Darkness as the label’s latest release in the CD Club series. The 2-CD set is limited to 6000 copies and features the film’s expanded score composed by Michael Giacchino (Up, The Incredibles, Lost, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Ratatouille). Varese has previously released the regular soundtrack album when the film opened in theaters last summer and also released a deluxe edition of Giacchino’s’ first Star Trek score. ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Live to Projection Concert Announced
Royal Albert Hall will host the UK premiere of Star Trek Into Darkness – Live in Concert featuring the performance of Academy Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino‘s original score for J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness performed live to projection. The music will be performed by the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra and Chorus under the baton of Ludwig Wicki. The concert will take place on Friday, May 30, 2014 in London. To buy tickets for the event, visit Royal Albert Hall’s official website. The world premiere of Star Trek Into Darkness – Live in Concert is set to take place a few days prior to the UK premiere at the KKL Luzern Concert Hall in Lucerne, Switzerland. Expected to top the weekend box office is the sci-fi sequel Star Trek Into Darkness directed by J.J. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music is now available digitally from Varese Sarabande and will be released on CD next week. Opening in limited release is the indie comedy drama Frances Ha co-written and directed by Noah Baumbach and starring Greta Gerwig, Mickey Sumner, Adam Driver and Michael Zegen. ABKCO Records will release a soundtrack album featuring four tracks from classic film scores by composer Georges Delerue, Paul McCartney’s Blue Sway, David Bowie’s Modern Love, T. Rex’s Chrome Sitar and more next week. Also included is a track by Dean Wareham and Britta Phillips who scored Baumbach’s The Squid and the Whale.
