BBC’s ‘River’ Soundtrack Announced

riverSilva Screen Records will release a soundtrack album for the BBC series River. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed by Harry Escott (ShameHard CandyA Mighty HeartWelcome to the Punch). Also included is the song I Love to Love performed by Tina Charles. The soundtrack will be released overseas on November 13, 2015 and in the U.S. on December 4. BT Scoring ABC’s ‘Wicked City

wicked-cityBT has announced on Twitter that he has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming ABC drama Wicked City. He is co-scoring the series with Mike DiMattia. The series is created by Steven Baigelman (Get on Up) and stars Ed Westwick, Erika Christensen, Jeremy Sisto, Taissa Farmiga, Gabriel Luna, Anne Winters, Karolina Wydra, Evan Ross and Jaime Ray Newman. The show follows a unique case set in Los Angeles, starting with a murder case from 1982 centered on the rock ’n’ roll, cocaine-infused revelry of the Sunset Strip. Baigelman also serves as an executive producer on the ABC Studios production, alongside Todd Lieberman & David Hoberman (The Fighter, The Proposal), Laurie Zaks (Castle) and Jon Cassar (24). racing-extinctionRumor Mill Records will release a soundtrack album for the documentary Racing Extinction. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee J. Ralph (Lucky Number Slevin, The Cove, Chasing Ice, Meru). Also included are two original songs, on which the composer collaborated with Sia and Antony Hegarty. The soundtrack will be released on November 6, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Racing Extinction is directed by Louie Psihoyos and focuses on how close our planet is to the loss of thousands of species. The movie centers on the most epic loss of biodiversity since the dinosaurs died out, from illegal trade in wildlife to the carbon emissions threatening our way of life. The documentary premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival was released in select theaters this past September by Abramorama and will premiere globally on the Discovery Channel on December 2, 2015. John Debney is composing the music for the upcoming NBC drama Game of Silence. The show is created by David Hudgins (Parenthood, Friday Night Lights) and stars David Lyons, Michael Raymond-James, Larenz Tate, Bre Blair, Conor O’Farrell Deidrie Henry, Demetrius Grosse and Claire van der Boom. The series follows a successful Atlanta attorney whose long-lost childhood friends unexpectedly reappear after 25 years and threaten to expose a dark, violent secret from their past. Hudgins is also producing the Universal Television and Sony Pictures Television production with Carol Mendelsohn (CSI, CSI: Miami), Julie Weitz, Timur Savci, Tariq Jalil and Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Dead Man Down) who also directed the pilot episode. ‘Spotlight’ Soundtrack Details

The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Howard Shore (The Lord of the RingsThe HobbitThe Silence of the LambsThe AviatorHugo). The soundtrack will be released on November 6, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Spotlight is co-written and directed by McCarthy and stars Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, Liev Schreiber, John Slattery, Stanley Tucci, Brian d’Arcy James and Billy Crudup. Jed Kurzel to Score ‘Blackbird’

jed-kurzelJed Kurzel has signed on to score the upcoming drama Blackbird. The film is helmed by theater director Benedict Andrews and stars Rooney Mara, Ben Mendelsohn, Riz Ahmed and Tara Fitzgerald. The movie centers on the confrontation between a middle aged man and a young woman who had an illicit affair 15 years earlier, for which the man was arrested and imprisoned. David Harrower has written the screenplay. Patrick Daly and Jean Doumanian (August: Osage CountyCelebrityAll the Real Girls) are producing the WestEnd Films production. ithacaSinger/songwriter John Mellencamp has composed the score for Meg Ryan’s directorial debut Ithaca. He also wrote an original song for the coming-of-age drama, which stars Sam Shepard, Hamish Linklater and Alex Neustaedter, as well as Tom Hanks who appears in a small role. The World War II-set film is based on Pulitzer Prize winner William Saroyan’s 1943 novel The Human Comedy and follows a 14-year old bicycle messenger who is delivering telegrams from the Secretary of War and informing the families in their small town of the death of their loved one on the front lines. Erik Jendresen (Killing LincolnBand of Brothers) has written the screenplay and is also producing the project with Janet Brenner (The Last Five Years) and Laura Ivey. Read the rest of this entry »

alan-silvestriAlan Silvestri mentioned in an interview with Nerdist that he is set to reteam with Robert Zemeckis on the director’s upcoming currently untitled World War II spy drama. Brad Pitt and Mario Cotillard are attached to star in the film, which follows an Allied counter-intelligence agent who falls in love with during a dangerous North African mission and is quietly notified that the woman he has married and had a baby with is likely a Nazi spy. Steven Knight (Eastern PromisesLockeDirty Pretty Things) has written the screenplay. Zemeckis is also producing the Paramount, New Regency and GK Films production with Graham King (The DepartedHugoRango) and Steve Starkey (Cast AwayMatchstick Men). revenantRyuichi Sakamoto has announced on Twitter that he is collaborating with Carsten Nicolai aka Alva Noto and Bryce Dessner on Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s upcoming dramatic thriller The Revenant. The movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson and Will Poulter is based on the novel of the same title by Michael Punke and follows legendary explorer Hugh Glass who is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. Nicolai is a German electronic music artist who previously worked together on several records with Sakamoto.
