Premiering on Wednesday, January 17, is the FX original series The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story starring Darren Criss, Edgar Ramírez, Penelope Cruz and Ricky Martin. Mac Quayle (Mr. Robot, American Horror Story, Scream Queens) who previously scored the first American Crime Story season The People v. O.J. Simpson has composed the show’s original music. Mark Isham (Crash, Once Upon a Time, A River Runs Through It) and BT (The Fast and the Furious, Monster) have recently scored two episodes of the new Amazon original series Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams. The composers collaborated on the music for the episodes Autofac starring Juno Temple, Janelle Monae & David Lyons, and Isham also scored the episode Safe and Sound. In addition, Bear McCreary (10 Cloverfield Lane, Happy Death Day, The Walking Dead) has scored three episodes including the Dee Rees-helmed Kill All Others, as well as Real Life and Impossible Planet, both of which already aired in the UK on Channel 4.

Mark Isham has composed the music for the upcoming Black Mirror episode Arkangel. The episode is directed by Jodie Foster and stars Rosemarie Dewitt, Brenna Harding and Owen Teague. No plot details have been announced. The show’s creator Charlie Brooker wrote the script. Isham has previously collaborated with Foster on her directorial efforts, Home for the Holidays and Little Man Tate.

The line-up of the 5th Annual Musical Anatomy of a Superhero panel has been announced. A number of Hollywood film and TV composers will explain the process and challenges of creating the musical voice behind the superhero and their environment as well as collaborating with the director, producers and the franchise. Participating composers include Marco Beltrami who recently scored James Mangold’s Logan, and has previously scored comic book movies including The Wolverine, Fantastic Four and Hellboy, Brian Tyler whose superhero film credits include Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thor: The Dark World and Iron Man 3 and Ludwig Goransson who is making his scoring debut in the genre on Marvel’s upcoming Black Panther.
