Premiering tonight is the HBO original documentary series The Yogurt Shop Murders directed by Margaret Brown about the tragic murder of four teenage girls at an I Can’t Believe It’s Yogurt Shop on December 6, 1991 in Austin, TX. The show’s original music is composed by Claudia Sarne (The Book of Eli, Shining Girls, Triple 9, Broken City, Earthquake Bird, Dispatches from Elsewhere). Check out our previous news article to learn more about the 4-parter, which premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival and will air every Sunday on HBO and also will be available to stream on HBO Max.

Premiering on Wednesday, August 6, is the action comedy The Pickup directed by Tim Story and starring Eddie Murphy, Keke Palmer, Pete Davidson, Eva Longoria, Andrew Dice Clay, Jack Kesy, Marshawn Lynch and Ismael Cruz Cordova. Christopher Lennertz (The Boys, Lost in Space, Ride Along, Sausage Party, Tom & Jerry, Agent Carter, Back in Action, Supernatural) has composed the film’s original music. ‘Freaky Tales’ Soundtrack Album Released

Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album for the action comedy Freaky Tales. The album features the film’s original music composed by Raphael Saadiq (Lovecraft Country, Insecure, Underground, 61st Street, Black Nativity, The After Party). Also included is the movie’s title song written by Todd Shaw and performed by Symba. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Freaky Tales is written and directed by Ryan Fleck & Anna Boden and stars Pedro Pascal, Ben Mendelsohn, Jay Ellis, Angus Cloud, Normani, Dominique Thorne and Jack Champion. The movie is set in 1987 Oakland and follows an NBA star, a corrupt cop, teen punks, a female rap duo, neo-Nazis, and a debt collector on a collision course in a fever dream of showdowns and battles.

Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the fantasy adventure comedy A Minecraft Movie directed by Jared Hess and starring Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers, Sebastian Eugene Hansen and Jennifer Coolidge. The film’s original score is composed by Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: Ragnarok, The Royal Tenenbaums, The LEGO Movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 21/22 Jump Street). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs by Black, Bret McKenzie, Dayglow, Dirty Honey, Jamieson Shaw & BENEE last Friday. Also opening wide is the horror comedy Hell of a Summer directed by Finn Wolfhard & Billy Bryk and starring Fred Hechinger, Abby Quinn, Wolfhard & Bryk themselves, Adam Pally, Pardis Saremi, Rosebud Baker, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai and Krista Nazaire. Jay McCarrol (BlackBerry, The Kid Detective, The Dirties, Operation Avalanche) has composed the film’s original score. A soundtrack album is expected to be released in the coming weeks by Lakeshore Records. ‘Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur’ Season 2 – Vol. 2 Soundtrack Album Released

Walt Disney Records has released a new soundtrack album for the Disney Channel animated series Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. The album features the original songs from the second part of the show’s second season of the show co-written by series composer and executive music producer Raphael Saadiq (Lovecraft Country, Insecure, Underground). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Also check out the music videos for the tracks I Am Who I Am and Level Up after the jump. The label has previously released two albums featuring the songs from Season 1 back in 2023 and the first part of Season 2 in early 2024. Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is developed by Steve Loter, Jeffrey M. Howard & Kate Kondell and stars Diamond White, Fred Tatasciore, Alfre Woodard, Sasheer Zamata, Libe Barer, Jermaine Fowler, Gary Anthony Williams and Laurence Fishburne.

Raphael Saadiq (Insecure, Lovecraft Country, Underground, Black Nativity, 61st Street, The After Party) has recently been scoring the upcoming dramatic thriller Freaky Tales. The film is written and directed by Ryan Fleck & Anna Boden (Captain Marvel, Half Nelson) and stars Pedro Pascal, Ben Mendelsohn, Normani, Jay Ellis, Angus Cloud, Dominique Thorne and Jack Champion. The movie is set in Oakland in 1987 and is comprised of four interconnected stories: teen punks defend their turf against Nazi skinheads, a henchman gets a shot at redemption, a rap duo battles for hip-hop immortality and an NBA All-Star settles the score.

Lakeshore Records has released the original song Miracle from the Amazon original movie Candy Cane Lane. The track is written by Raphael Saadiq (Lovecraft Country, Insecure, The After Party, Underground, Black Nativity) feat. UK vocalist Kelli-Leigh and is now available to stream/download exclusively on Amazon Music. Also check out the official lyric video below. Columbia Records has previously released two covers from the film performed by Chlöe and a full soundtrack album featuring Marcus Miller’s original score will be coming out next week. Candy Cane Lane is directed by Reginald Hudlin and stars Eddie Murphy, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jillian Bell, Ken Marino, Thaddeus J. Mixson, Robin Thede, Riki Lindhome, Nick Offerman and Stephen Tobolowsky.

Premiering on Wednesday, February 8, is the ABC comedy Not Dead Yet created by Casey Johnson & David Windsor based on the book Confessions of a 40-something F**k Up by Alexandra Potter and starring Gina Rodriguez, Joshua Banday and Angela Gibbs. The show’s original music is composed by Transcenders (Gossip Girl, Madam Secretary, Black-ish, Our Family Wedding). The series, which follows a broke and newly single woman working to restart the life and career she left behind five years ago who starts getting life advice from an unlikely source, will air Wednesday nights on ABC and will also be available to stream on Hulu.

Premiering on Thursday, February 9, is the Netflix animated series My Dad the Bounty Hunter created by Everett Downing & Patrick Harbin and starring Laz Alonso, Yvonne Orji, JeCobi Swain,Priah Ferguson, Rob Riggle, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jim Rash, Jamie Chung and Leslie Uggams. Joshua Mosley (Tuscaloosa, Bernie the Dolphin, Mass Effect: Paragon Lost) has composed the show’s original score. Netflix Music has released a soundtrack album featuring selections of Mosley’s score and several songs from the show this past Friday.
