Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album for the action comedy Freaky Tales. The album features the film’s original music composed by Raphael Saadiq (Lovecraft Country, Insecure, Underground, 61st Street, Black Nativity, The After Party). Also included is the movie’s title song written by Todd Shaw and performed by Symba. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Raphael Saadiq (Insecure, Lovecraft Country, Underground, Black Nativity, 61st Street, The After Party) has recently been scoring the upcoming dramatic thriller Freaky Tales. The film is written and directed by Ryan Fleck & Anna Boden (Captain Marvel, Half Nelson) and stars Pedro Pascal, Ben Mendelsohn, Normani, Jay Ellis, Angus Cloud, Dominique Thorne and Jack Champion. The movie is set in Oakland in 1987 and is comprised of four interconnected stories: teen punks defend their turf against Nazi skinheads, a henchman gets a shot at redemption, a rap duo battles for hip-hop immortality and an NBA All-Star settles the score.
‘Mississippi Grind’ Soundtracks Announced
Lakeshore Records will release two soundtrack albums for the indie drama Mississippi Grind. Both albums feature a collection of blues tracks inspired by the movie by artists including Big Bill Broonzy, Memphis Minnie, Joe Callicott, John Lee Hooker, Leo Welch, Memphis Slim, Odetta, Junior Kimbrough & more. Both albums will be released digitally on September 18 and physically on October 2. Scott Bomar has been tapped to score the upcoming indie drama Mississippi Grind. The film is written and directed by Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck (It’s Kind of a Funny Story, Sugar, Half Nelson) and stars Ryan Reynolds, Sienna Miller, Ben Mendelsohn, Alfre Woodard and Analeigh Tipton. The movie follows a charismatic drifter who sets off with a down-on-his-luck poker player on a road trip through the South, where they plan to win back what they’ve already lost. Jamie Patricof & Lynette Howell (The Place Beyond the Pines, Blue Valentine, Big Eyes) are producing the project for Electric City Entertainment, alongside Tom Rice & Ben Nearn (The Way Way Back) for Sycamore Entertainment.
