Walt Disney Records has released the opening theme song from the upcoming Disney Channel animated series Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. Available to stream/download now on all major digital music services is Moon Girl Magic written by the show’s executive music producer Raphael Saadiq (Lovecraft Country, Insecure, Underground, From Scratch), Halima Lucas & Taura Stinson and performed by Diamond White (who stars as Lunella aka Moon Girl). Premiering on Tuesday, October 18, is the HBO original documentary Mama’s Boy directed by Laurent Bouzereau and produced by Mickey Liddell, Pete Shilaimon, Steven Shareshian, Darryl Frank & Justin Falvey. The film’s original music is composed by Raphaelle Thibaut (Secrets of the Whales, Introducing, Selma Blair, Fantastic Beasts: A Natural History). The Amblin Television and Playtone production, which centers on the upbringing of Academy Award-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black (Milk) and is based on his 2019 memoir Mama’s Boy: A Story from Our Americas, will air on HBO and will also be available to stream on HBO Max.
Premiering on Wednesday, October 19, is the Australian thriller The Stranger directed by Thomas M. Wright and starring Joel Edgerton, Sean Harris, Jada Alberts, Cormac Wright, Steve Mouzakis and Matthew Sunderland. Oliver Coates (Aftersun, Significant Other) has composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score is in the works. The movie, which premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, was released theatrically in Australia earlier this month and will be available to stream worldwide on Wednesday on Netflix.
Soundtrack Album for Netflix’s ‘From Scratch’ to Be Released
Netflix Music will release the official soundtrack album for the streamer’s limited series From Scratch. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Laura Karpman (Ms. Marvel, Set It Up, What If…?, Why We Hate, Paris Can Wait) and Raphael Saadiq (Lovecraft Country, Insecure, The After Party). Also included are two songs performed by Matteo Bocelli (listen to both tracks below). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, October 14 and will be available to stream/download here. From Scratch is created by Attica & Tembi Locke based on Tembi’s memoir of the same title and stars Zoe Saldaña, Eugenio Mastrandrea, Keith David, Danielle Deadwyler, Judith Scott, Kellita Smith, Lucia Sardo, Paride Benassai and Roberta Rigano.
Laura Karpman & Raphael Saadiq Scoring Netflix’s ‘From Scratch’
Laura Karpman (Ms. Marvel, Set It Up, Paris Can Wait, Why We Hate) & Raphael Saadiq (Insecure, The After Party) are reuniting to co-score the new Netflix limited series From Scratch. The show is created by Attica & Tembi Locke and stars Zoe Saldaña, Eugenio Mastrandrea, Keith David, Danielle Deadwyler, Kellita Smith, Judith Scott, Lucia Sardo, Paride Benassai and Roberta Rigano. The romantic drama is based on Tembi Locke’s memoir of the same name and tells the story of an artist who finds romance with a chef in Italy and embarks on a life-changing journey of love, loss, resilience and hope across cultures and continents.

Raphael Saadiq (Insecure, The After Party) & Laure Karpman (What If…?, Set It Up, Paris Can Wait, Why We Hate) are teaming up to co-score the upcoming AMC original series 61st Street. The thriller examines the infamous Chicago criminal justice system as police and prosecutors investigate a deadly drug bust that threatens to unravel the police department’s code of silence.

Andra Day’s & Raphael Saadiq’s Original Song ‘Tigress & Tweed’ from ‘The United States vs. Billie Holiday’ Released
Warner Records has released the original song Tigress & Tweed from the biographical drama The United States vs. Billie Holiday. The track is performed by lead actress Andra Day who also co-wrote it with composer, singer/songwriter and record producer Raphael Saadiq (Lovecraft Country, Underground, Insecure). The song is now available as a digital single on Amazon and all other major digital music platforms and can also be checked out after the jump. The label has previously released Day’s covers of Holiday’s All of Me and Strange Fruit from the film.

WaterTower Music will release a soundtrack album for the HBO original series Lovecraft Country. The album features selections of the original score from all episodes of the show’s first season composed by Emmy Award winner Laura Karpman (Step, Set It Up, Why We Hate) and Raphael Saadiq (Underground, Insecure, Black Nativity). Also included are the songs from the horror drama performed by actors Wunmi Mosaku and Jurnee Smollett, as well as Alice Smith’s cover of Nina Simone’s Sinnerman. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, October 19 and will be available to stream/download here. Lovecraft Country is developed by Misha Green based on Matt Ruff‘s novel of the same name and also stars Jonathan Majors, Aunjanue Ellis, Abbey Lee, Jada Harris and Michael Kenneth Williams.

Madison Gate Records will release a new soundtrack album for the Fox/Spectrum series L.A.’s Finest. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s first season composed by Raphael Saadiq & Laura Karpman (Lovecraft Country, Underground, Step, Black Nativity, Step Sisters). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, September 25 and will be available to stream/download here. The label has previously released a soundtrack album featuring Jeff Cardoni’s score from the second season earlier this month. LA’s Finest is created by Brandon Margolis & Brandon Sonnier based on the Bad Boys feature films and stars Gabrielle Union, Jessica Alba, Duane Martin, Ryan McPartlin, Zach Gilford, Sophie Reynolds and Ernie Hudson.
