Paul Haslinger (Underworld, Halt and Catch Fire, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Crank, The Three Musketeers, Shoot ‘Em Up, Death Race, Prom Night, Blue Crush) has composed the original score for the upcoming Canadian/British drama A Long Winter. The film is written and directed by Andrew Haigh (All of Us Strangers, Lean on Pete) and stars Fred Hechinger, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Caitríona Balfe, Kit Connor and D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai. The movie follows a young man who refuses to give up hope after his mother disappears during the first blizzard of the season as one long Colorado winter reshapes his relationship with his father and his understanding of the man he is becoming.

The film is directed by Paul W.S. Anderson (Resident Evil, Event Horizon) and stars Dave Bautista, Milla Jovovich and Arly Jover. The movie is based on short story by George R.R. Martin (Game of Thrones) and tells the story of a queen who – desperate to fulfill her love – sends a powerful and feared sorceress to the ghostly wilderness of the Lost Lands in search of a magical power, where the sorceress and her guide must outwit and outfight man and demon.

Node Records will release a soundtrack album for the documentary The YouTube Effect. The album features the film’s original music composed by Paul Haslinger (Halt and Catch Fire, Underworld, Monster Hunter, Crank, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Death Race). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, July 7 and will be available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. The YouTube Effect is directed by Alex Winter and explores the ascension and potential fall of YouTube and the unforeseen privacy and ethical problems that it created.

The full list of music cues featured in Ben Affleck’s biographical drama Air has been revealed. While the film doesn’t have a credited composer, Paul Haslinger (Underworld, Halt and Catch Fire, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter) appears to have contributed a few original music cues, credited in the end titles as I Want to Sign Him and Sneaker Anthem. The movie also features tracks from multiple 80s scores by the German electronic music group Tangerine Dream (which Haslinger was a member of in the late 80s), including Running Out of Time & Through the Dark/Run Across the Street from Miracle Mile, Shop Territory from Firestarter, Jerry’s Decision & To the Head of the Class from Three O’Clock High, Love on a Real Train from Risky Business and Breathing the Night Away from Heartbreakers.
