Peter Nashel (I, Tonya, Marco Polo, Book Club, Mike, The Night Listener, Bee Season, Alaska Daily) has composed the original score for the new HBO documentary The Dark Money Game. The 2-parter features two films, Ohio Confidential & Wealth of the Wicked, written and directed by Alex Gibney (Taxi to the Dark Side, We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks) who investigates the shadowy world of political donations and fundraising fifteen years after the Supreme Court’s decision in the Citizen’s United case, which enabled unlimited spending by hidden sources on many political campaigns. The movies sare inspired by Jane Mayer’s book Dark Money: The Hidden History of the Billionaires Behind the Rise of the Radical Right and features interviews with journalists including Mayer herself, as well as lawmakers, FBI investigators, judges, whistleblowers, and insiders on both sides of the issue.

Peter Nashel Scoring ABC’s ‘Alaska Daily’
Peter Nashel (I, Tonya, Book Club, Marco Polo, The Night Listener, Mike, Bee Season) has been tapped to score the new ABC drama Alaska Daily. The show is created by Tom McCarthy (Spotlight, The Visitor) and stars Hilary Swank, Jeff Perry, Matt Malloy, Grace Dove, Meredith Holzman, Pablo Castelblanco, Ami Park and Craig Frank. The series revolves around an investigative journalist who leaves her high-profile New York life behind after a fall from grace to join a daily metro newspaper in Anchorage on a journey to find both personal and professional redemption.

Premiering tonight is the HBO original series House of the Dragon created by George R.R. Martin & Ryan Condal and starring Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best and Rhys Ifans. The show’s original music is composed by Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones, Iron Man, Westworld, Eternals, Pacific Rim, Uncharted). WaterTower Music has released a first track from the composer’s score this past Thursday. Samuel Sim (The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, Domina, The Spanish Princess, The Halcyon, Home Fires) has composed the show’s original music. Peter Nashel (Book Club, Marco Polo, The Night Listener, Totally Under Control, Bee Season) is scoring the upcoming Hulu limited series Mike. The show is created by Steven Rogers (I, Tonya, Stepmom) and stars Trevante Rhodes in the title role, alongside Russell Hornsby, Harvey Keitel, Laura Harrier, Olunike Adeliyi, Li Eubanks and B.J. Minor. The 8-part drama tells the story of the dynamic and controversial life of boxing icon Mike Tyson and explores the tumultuous ups and downs of his boxing career and personal life – from being a beloved global athlete to a pariah and back again.

Back Lot Music has released the song More Dough for the Cookin’ from M. Night Shyamalan’s thriller Old. The track is performed by Aaron Pierre (who also stars in the movie) feat. Ilan Stone and co-written by Pierre himself, Brad Fischer and Peter Nashel (I, Tonya, Marco Polo, Book Club). The song is now available to stream/download on all major digital music platforms, including Amazon and can also be checked out after the jump. The label has previously released a full soundtrack album featuring Trevor Gureckis’ original score and original song by Saleka this past summer.

Peter Nashel (I, Tonya, Marco Polo, The Night Listener, Book Club, Bee Season) has composed the original score for the new HBO documentary The Crime of the Century. The 2-parter is directed by Alex Gibney (We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks, Taxi to the Dark Side, Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room) and explores the origins, extent, and fallout of the opioid crisis, one of the most devastating public health tragedies of our time, with half a million deaths from overdoses this century alone. Gibney is also producing the project with Sarah Dowland and Svetlana Zill.
Peter Nashel Scoring Tim Kirkby’s ‘Last Looks’
Peter Nashel (I, Tonya, Book Club, The Night Listener, Marco Polo, Totally Under Control, Bee Season) has composed the original score for the upcoming action thriller Last Looks. The film is directed by Tim Kirkby (Action Point, Brockmire) and stars Charlie Hunnam, Morena Baccarin, Mel Gibson, Dominic Monaghan, Eiza Gonzalez, Paul-Ben Victor, Jacob Scipio, Lucy Fry, Rupert Friend and Clancy Brown. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Howard Gould and follows a disgraced LAPD detective who has spent the past three years living off the grid, when he is reluctantly pulled back into his old life by a former lover in order to solve the murder of an eccentric celebrity’s wife.
