Silva Screen Records has announced a soundtrack album for the BBC drama series Shetland. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Emmy Award winner John Lunn (Downton Abbey, The Last Kingdom, The White Queen, The White Princess). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, March 23 and physically on April 20. Visit Amazon to purchase the album and to listen to audio samples. Shetland is based on Ann Cleeves’ novels and stars Douglas Henshall, Alison O’Donnell, Steven Robertson, Lewis Howden, Stewart Porter, Erin Armstrong, Mark Bonnar, Anne Kidd and Julie Graham. The series revolves around detective inspector Jimmy Perez and his team as they investigate crimes within the close knit island community of Shetland.

David Cieri’s Score from ‘The Vietnam War’ & Other Documentaries Released
Ropeadope Records has released a new soundtrack album featuring music composed by David Cieri (Oklahoma City) from several docu-series directed by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick & produced by Florentine Films. Notes from the Underscore: 10 Years with Florentine Films includes selections of his scores from this year’s PBS series The Vietnam War, 2011’s Prohibition and 2014’s The Roosevelts: An Intimate History. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon and iTunes, where you can also listen to audio samples. Separate soundtrack albums for The Vietnam War, featuring Trent Reznor’s & Atticus Ross’ contributions to the series, the pop/rock songs as featured in the show, as well as The Silkroad Ensemble & Yo-Yo Ma’s arrangements of traditional Vietnamese songs have been released earlier this year.

Premiering in the U.S. tonight is the British series The Collection created Oliver Goldstick and starring Richard Coyle, Tom Riley, Frances de la Tour, Mamie Gummer, Max Deacon, Irène Jacob, Michael Kitchen and James Cosmo. The show’s original music is composed by Dominik Scherrer (The Missing, Ripper Street, Primeval). The drama premiered last year in the UK on Amazon and is making its domestic debut tonight on PBS. Premiering on Wednesday, October 11, is the new CW drama Dynasty created by Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage & Sallie Patrick based on the classic 80s show of the same title and starring Nathalie Kelley, Elizabeth Gillies, Alan Dale, Sam Adegoke, Rob Riley and Grant Show. Paul-Leonard Morgan (Limitless, Walking with Dinosaurs 3D, Dredd, The Numbers Station) is composing the show’s original music. The Silkroad Ensemble’s & Yo-Yo Ma’s Music from ‘The Vietnam War’ to Be Released
In A Circle Records will release a new soundtrack album for the PBS docu-series The Vietnam War. Tthe album features traditional and popular Vietnamese songs, arranged by members of The Silkroad Ensemble with Yo-Yo Ma, as well as improvisations inspired by the documentary. Also included is an instrumental rendition of We Shall Overcome performed by multi-instrumentalist Vanessa Van-Anh Vo, and Grammy-winning rising star of Folk, Sarah Jarosz. The soundtrack will be released physically on December 8, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Universal Music has previously released two soundtrack albums for the series including the songs and Trent Reznor’s & Atticus Ross’ score from the show.
Dan Jones to Score BBC’s & PBS’ ‘The Miniaturist’
Dan Jones has been hired to compose the music for the upcoming BBC mini-series The Miniaturist. The period thriller is directed by Guillem Morales (Julia’s Eyes) and stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Romola Garai, Alex Hassell, Paapa Essiedu, Hayley Squires and Emily Berrington. The 3-parter is based on Jessie Burton’s best-selling novel of the same title and follows a woman who moves to live with her new husband in 17th Amsterdam, but soon discovers that not everything is what it seems. Kate Sinclair is executive producing the project for The Forge, alongside Elizabeth Kilgarriff (Poldark, Call the Midwife) for the BBC and Rebecca Eaton (Sherlock, Downton Abbey) for PBS’ Masterpiece.

Premiering tonight is the PBS docu-series The Vietnam War directed by Ken Burns & Lynn Novick. Premiering in the U.S. tomorrow is the British mini-series The State written and directed by Peter Kosminsky and starring Sam Otto, Ryan McKen, Shavani Cameron, Ony Uhiara and Nana Agyeman-Bediako. The 4-parter’s original music is composed by Debbie Wiseman (Wolf Hall, Father Brown, Vampire Killers). The show centers on the lives of four British citizens who join ISIS in Syria. Gary Lionelli Scoring HBO’s Ben Bradlee Documentary & PBS’ ‘Chasing the Moon’
Gary Lionelli is scoring HBO’s upcoming untitled Ben Bradlee documentary. The film is directed by John Maggio and centers on the legendary Washington Post executive editor who became a national figure during the presidency of Richard Nixon, when he challenged the federal government over the right to publish the Pentagon Papers. Peter Kunhardt (Becoming Warren Buffett) is producing the project with Richard Cohen.
Adrian Johnston Scoring BBC’s ‘The Child in Time’
Adrian Johnston is scoring the upcoming BBC drama The Child in Time. The movie is directed by Julian Farino (The Oranges) and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Kelly Macdonald, Stephen Campbell Moore and Saskia Reeves. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Ian McEwan (Atonement) and centers around children’s author Stephen Lewis who struggles to find purpose in life following the disappearance of his daughter two years earlier. Stephen Butchard (The Last Kingdom) wrote the script is also executive producing the Pinewood Television and SunnyMarch TV production with Cumberbatch, Helen Gregory, Lucy Richer, Rebecca Eaton, David Boulter and Adam Ackland.

Premiering tonight in the U.S. is the British mini-series Prime Suspect: Tennison executive produced by Rebecca Eaton, Camilla Campbell & Robert Wulff-Cochrane and starring Stefanie Martini, Sam Reid, Blake Harrison, Jessica Gunning and Alun Armstrong. The show’s original music is composed by Carly Paradis (Line of Duty, True Justice). Prime Suspect 1973 is a based on Lynda La Plante’s Tennison novel is a prequel to the original Prime Suspect series and centers around a 22-year-old Jane at the start of her career in 1970s London. The show’s original music is composed by Angelo Badalamenti (Blue Velvet, The Straight Story, Mulholland Drive) who previously scored the original series, as well as the movie version. Making its U.S. debut tonight is the British mini-series Dark Angel developed by Gwyneth Hughes based on David Wilson’s book Mary Ann Cotton: Britain’s First Female Serial Killer and starring Joanne Froggatt, Alun Armstrong, Penny Layden, Laura Morgan, Jonas Armstrong, Sam Hoare, Emma Fielding and John Hollingworth. Michael J McEvoy (Me and Orson Welles, Forget Me Not) has composed the film’s original music. The 2-parter premiered in the UK last fall and will air in the U.S. on PBS.
