Ropeadope Records has released a new soundtrack album featuring music composed by David Cieri (Oklahoma City) from several docu-series directed by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick & produced by Florentine Films. Notes from the Underscore: 10 Years with Florentine Films includes selections of his scores from this year’s PBS series The Vietnam War, 2011’s Prohibition and 2014’s The Roosevelts: An Intimate History. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon and iTunes, where you can also listen to audio samples. Separate soundtrack albums for The Vietnam War, featuring Trent Reznor’s & Atticus Ross’ contributions to the series, the pop/rock songs as featured in the show, as well as The Silkroad Ensemble & Yo-Yo Ma’s arrangements of traditional Vietnamese songs have been released earlier this year.

The Silkroad Ensemble’s & Yo-Yo Ma’s Music from ‘The Vietnam War’ to Be Released
In A Circle Records will release a new soundtrack album for the PBS docu-series The Vietnam War. Tthe album features traditional and popular Vietnamese songs, arranged by members of The Silkroad Ensemble with Yo-Yo Ma, as well as improvisations inspired by the documentary. Also included is an instrumental rendition of We Shall Overcome performed by multi-instrumentalist Vanessa Van-Anh Vo, and Grammy-winning rising star of Folk, Sarah Jarosz. The soundtrack will be released physically on December 8, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Universal Music has previously released two soundtrack albums for the series including the songs and Trent Reznor’s & Atticus Ross’ score from the show.

Universal Music has announced two soundtrack albums for the docu-series The Vietnam War. The first album features popular songs featured in the show that define the era, including tracks from The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Simon & Garfunkel, Buffalo Springfield, The Byrds, Otis Redding, Santana, Ray Charles, Nina Simone & more. The soundtrack will be released on September 15, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Also being released on the same date is a 2-CD (and 3-LP) album featuring the 10-parter’s original music composed by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Gone Girl, Te Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross Scoring PBS’ ‘The Vietnam War’
PBS announced today that Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are composing the music for the upcoming docu-series The Vietnam War. The 10-parter directed by Ken Burns (Brooklyn Bridge, The Statue of Liberty) and Lynn Novick (Frank Llyod Wright) also features new music arranged and performed by cellist Yo-Yo Ma and The Silk Road Ensemble. Additional music in the show was composed by David Cieri and Doug Wamble, both of whom are longtime collaborators with Florentine Films. Also featured in the series are more than 120 popular songs by artists including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Simon & Garfunkel, Janis Joplin, Ben E. King, Donovan, Johnny Cash & more.
