Ropeadope will release a soundtrack album for the PBS documentary Henry David Thoreau. The album features the film’s original music composed by David Cieri (The Vietnam War, Oklahoma City, The Roosevelts: An Intimate History, Hemingway). Henry David Thoreau is executive produced by Ken Burns & Don Henley, directed by Erik Ewers & Christopher Loren Ewers, narrated by George Clooney and features the voices of Jeff Goldblum (as Henry David Thoreau), Ted Danson (Ralph Waldo Emerson), Tate Donovan (William Ellery Channing) & Meryl Streep (Lidian Emerson,Mary Merrick Brooks, Margaret Fuller & Maria Thoreau). The 3-part film examines the life and work of the titular 19th-century writer in the context of antebellum New England and the larger United States, as well as through the universal themes he focused on in his writings.

‘The American Revolution’ Soundtrack Album Details
In a Circle Records will release a soundtrack album for the PBS documentary series The American Revolution. The album features the music from the show, including period and newly composed pieces for the project featuring performances by Rhiannon Giddens, Jake Blount, Brooklyn Rider, Nora Brown & Steph Coleman, Hanneke Cassel, Jennifer Kreisberg and Yo-Yo Ma. The American Revolution is directed by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein & David Schmidt and explores the country’s founding struggle and its eight-year War for Independence. The 6-parter is being released to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the start of the war, which began in the spring of 1775, more than a year before the Declaration of Independence.

PBS announced this week that Johnny Gandelsman, Rhiannon Giddens, Jennifer Kreisberg, David Cieri, Yo-Yo Ma and Richard Evans are contributing music to the upcoming documentary series The American Revolution. The show directed and produced by Ken Burns (Brooklyn Bridge, The Vietnam War, The Statue of Liberty), Sarah Botstein (The U.S. and the Holocaust) & David Schmidt, written by long-time collaborator Geoffrey C. Ward and examines how America’s creation turned the world upside-down. Makoché Records will release a soundtrack album for Ken Burns’ new documentary The American Buffalo. The album features selections of the music used in the film by artists such as Joseph Fire Crow, Bobby Horton, Lakota Thunder, Keith Bear, Randy Granger, Will Duncan, Skip Gorman and Robbie Robertson.
