Harry Gregson-Williams is set to reteam with director Niki Caro on the upcoming live-action movie adaptation of Disney’s Mulan. The film stars Liu Yifei in the title role, alongside Jet Li as the emperor of China, as well as Donnie Yen, Jason Scott Lee, Gong Li, Yoson An, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Ron Yuan, Tzi Ma, Rosalind Chao, Cheng Pei-Pei, Nelson Lee and Chum Ehelepola. The movie is based on the 1998 animated classic (scored by Jerry Goldsmith) and tells the story of a fearless young woman who masquerades as a man in order to fight Northern Invaders attacking China.

Soundtrack Album for Simon Baker’s ‘Breath’ to Be Released
Filmtrax will release a soundtrack album for Simon Baker’s directorial debut Breath. The album features the film’s original music composed by Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia, The Martian, Shrek, Kingdom of Heaven, Man on Fire). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, May 25 and will be available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Breath is co-written and directed by Baker who also stars in the movie alongside Samson Coulter, Ben Spence and Elizabeth Debicki. The movie is based on the best-selling novel by Tim Winton and follows a 13-year-old thrill-seeker in a coastal Australian town who finds both exhilaration and danger when he is taken under the wing of a pro surfer.
Harry Gregson-Williams to Score Disneynature’s ‘Penguins’
Harry Gregson-Williams has been hired to score the upcoming Disneynature documentary Penguins. The film is directed by Alastair Fothergill (Earth, African Cats, Chimpanzee), co-directed by Mark Linfield and Jeff Wilson and tells the coming-of-age story about an Adélie penguin named Steve who joins millions of fellow males in the icy Antarctic spring on a quest to build a suitable nest, find a life partner and start a family. The directors are also producing the project with Keith Scholey and Roy Conli. Gregson-Williams has previously scored Disneynature’s 2015 feature Monkey Kingdom directed by Linfield & Fothergill.

Mercury Records will release a soundtrack album for Aardman Animations’ feature Early Man. The album features the film’s original score composed by Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia, The Martian, Shrek) who previously scored Aardman’s Chicken Run (with John Powell), Flushed Away & Arthur Christmas, and Tom Howe (Professor Marston and the Wonder Women). Also included are new songs by New Hope Club and The Vamps, as well as Kaiser Chiefs’ I Predict a Riot. The soundtrack will be released digitally on January 26, 2018 and is now available for pore-order on Amazon. Early Man is directed by Nick Park and features the voice talent of Eddie Redmayne, Tom Hiddleston, Maisie Williams, Timothy Spall and Richard Ayoade. The movie tells the story of a courageous caveman and his best friend as they unite his tribe against a mighty enemy and his Bronze Age City to save their home.
