Premiering on Tuesday, January 16, is the new CW drama Black Lightning developed by Samil Akil & Mara Brock Akil based on the DC comic books character created by Tony Isabella & Trevor Von Eeden and starring Cress Williams, Nafessa Williams, China Anne McClain and Christine Adams. The show’s original music is composed by Kurt Farquhar (The King of Queens, Moesha, The Perfect Game, Stitchers). Premiering on Wednesday, January 17, is the FX original series The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story starring Darren Criss, Edgar Ramírez, Penelope Cruz and Ricky Martin. Mac Quayle (Mr. Robot, American Horror Story, Scream Queens) who previously scored the first American Crime Story season The People v. O.J. Simpson has composed the show’s original music. Harry Gregson-Williams is set to reunite with Antoine Fuqua on the upcoming action thriller sequel The Equalizer 2. The film stars Denzel Washington, Melissa Leo and Bill Pullman who reprise their characters from the original movie. They are joined by Pedro Pascal and Ashton Anders. Richard Wenk wrote the screenplay. Jason Blumenthal & Todd Black (The Pursuit of Happyness, Seven Pounds), Washington, Steve Tisch (Forrest Gump, Mace Neufeld (Patriot Games, Invictus), Alex Siskin and Tony Eldridge are producing the project. 
Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia, Shrek, Kingdom of Heaven, The Martian) has composed the main titles theme for upcoming Channel 4 & Amazon original series Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams. Check out the main titles sequence after the jump. The composer has also scored at least one episode of the anthology series. Olafur Arnalds (Broadchurch, Gimme Shelter) and Cristobal Tapia de Veer (Utopia, The Girl with All the Gifts) are also scoring multiple episodes of the show, which are all based on short stories by legendary sci-fi writer Philip K. Dick. 
This past week, Harry Gregson-Williams has recorded his score for the upcoming shark thriller Meg. The film is directed by Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure, While You Were Sleeping, Cool Runnings) and stars Jason Statham, Li Bingbing, Jessica McNamee, Ruby Rose and Rainn Wilson. he movie is based on Steve Alten’s novel MEG: A Novel of Deep Terror and centers on an international underwater observation program, led by Chinese scientists, that is under attack by an unknown danger with its deep-sea submersible disabled and trapped at the bottom of the Mariana Trench.
