Nico Muhly (The Reader, Pachinko, Margaret, Kill Your Darlings, Howards End, Worth, Joshua, The Humans) has composed the original score for the upcoming documentary The Librarians. The film is directed by Kim A. Snyder (Us Kids, Newtown) and follows a group of librarians under siege as they join forces as unlikely defenders fighting for intellectual freedom on the front lines of democracy when an unprecedented wave of book banning is sparked in Texas, Florida and other areas. Snyder is also producing the project with Janique L. Robillard, Maria Cuomo Cole and Jana Edelbaum (The Answer Man, The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete).

‘Pachinko’ Season 2 Soundtrack Album Details
Lakeshore Records will release a new soundtrack album for the Apple TV+ original series Pachinko. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Nico Muhly (The Reader, Margaret, Kill Your Darlings, Worth, Howards End, Joshua, The Humans). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, August 23 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Also listen to the composer’s first track (The Train) below. The label has previously released an album featuring the composer’s score from Season 1 back in 2022. Pachinko is created by Soo Hugh based on the New York Times bestselling novel of the same name and stars Lee Minho, Yuh-Jung Youn, Minha Kim, Anna Sawai, Eunchae Jung, Jin Ha Soji Arai and Sungkyu Kim.

The show is created by Soo Hugh (The Terror) based on his New York Times bestselling novel and stars Youn Yuh Jung, Lee Minho, Jin Ha, Minha Kim, Anna Sawai, Jung Eun-chae, Inji Jeong, Jimmi Simpson, Junwoo Han, Kaho Minami, Steve Sanghyun Noh, Soji Arai and Yu-na Jeon. The drama is told across three languages – Korean, Japanese, and English and chronicles the hopes and dreams of a Korean immigrant family across four generations as they leave their homeland in an indomitable quest to survive and thrive.

Three new movies have opened in theaters nationwide this past Wednesday:
Opening in most theaters is the animated feature Encanto directed by Byron Howard & Jared Bush and starring Stephanie Beatriz, María Cecilia Botero,Wilmer Valderrama, Adassa, Diane Guerrero, Jessica Darrow, Angie Cepeda, Rhenzy Feliz, Mauro Castillo and Carolina Gaitan. The film’s original score is composed by Germaine Franco (Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Dope, Tag, Little) and Lin-Manuel Miranda (Moana, Hamilton, In the Heights) has written the movie’s original songs. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs and score last Friday and a CD version will be coming out next month. Also opening wide is the biographical crime drama House of Gucci directed by Ridley Scott and starring Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Reeve Carney, Jack Huston, Jeremy Irons, Salma Hayek and Al Pacino. Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia, The Martian, Shrek, Mulan, Kingdom of Heaven, Man on Fire, The Town) has composed the film’s original score. Interscope Records & Decca Records are set to release a soundtrack album according to the movie’s end credits, but no announcement has been made yet. ‘Worth’ Soundtrack to Be Released
Filmtrax/Atlantic Screen Music will release a soundtrack album for the drama Worth. The album features the film’s original music composed by Nico Muhly (The Reader, Margaret, Kill Your Darlings, Joshua, Howards End, How to Talk to Girls at Parties). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, September 3 and will be available to stream/download on all major digital music platforms, including Amazon. Worth is directed by Sara Colangelo and stars Michael Keaton, Stanley Tucci, Amy Ryan, Ato Blankson-Wood, Shunori Ramanathan, Tate Donovan, Laura Benanti and Chris Tardio. The movie is based on Kenneth Feinberg’s memoir What Is Life Worth and follows an attorney who learns a lesson in empathy when he is faced with the task of determining how to compensate families who suffered incalculable losses as a result of the 9/11 attacks.

Nico Muhly (The Reader, Margaret, Kill Your Darlings, Howards End, Joshua, How to Talk to Girls at Parties) has composed the original score for the upcoming drama The Humans. The film is written and directed by Stephen Karam (Speech & Debate) based on his Tony Award-winning play of the same title and stars Steven Yeun, Beanie Feldstein, Amy Schumer, Richard Jenkins, Jayne Houdyshell and June Squibb. The movie revolves around a working-class family bound by tradition, contention, and unshakable loyalties. Karam is also producing the A24 production with Louise Lovegrove.

The only movie opening nationwide this week is the supernatural horror thriller Candyman co-written and directed by Nia DaCosta and starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Teyonah Parris, Colman Domingo, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Vanessa Williams and Tony Todd. The film’s original music is composed by Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe. Waxwork Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score in various formats today. Opening semi-wide in around 250 theaters is the British comedy drama Together directed by Stephen Daldry and starring James McAvoy and Sharon Horgan. Paul Englishby (An Education, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, Sunshine on Leith, Luther, The Musketeers) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie centers on two partners who are forced to re-evaluate themselves and their relationship through the reality of lockdown. The dramedy premiered in the UK this past June on BBC Two and is being released theatrically in the U.S. by Bleecker Street.

The movie centers on Kenneth Feinberg, a powerful D.C. lawyer appointed Special Master of the 9/11 Fund, as he fights off the cynicism, bureaucracy, and politics associated with administering government funds. Max Borenstein (Godzilla, The Terror: Infamy) wrote the screenplay.
