Germaine Franco (Encanto, The Mother, Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Vida, Little, Tag) is attached to score the upcoming comedy Holy Molé. The film marks the feature debut of commercials director Roderick Fenske and stars Tim Roth, Cristo Fernández and Martha Higareda Howes. The movie follows a pompous food critic and his earnest son-of-a-chef who must outwit a ruthless queen-pin in order to save the son’s family restaurant – and themselves. Phil Lloyd (Population 11, The Moodys) wrote the screenplay.

Weekly Film Music Roundup (May 5, 2023)
Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 written and directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Will Poulter and Bradley Cooper.. The film’s original score is composed by John Murphy (28 Days Later…, The Suicide Squad, Sunshine, Kick-Ass, Les Miserables). Hollywood Records & Marvel Music have released two soundtrack albums featuring Murphy’s score and the songs from the movie. Also opening wide is the romantic comedy drama Love Again written and directed by Jim Strouse and starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Sam Heughan and Celine Dion. Keegan DeWitt (Hearts Beat Loud, I’ll See You in My Dreams, A Teacher, Divorce) has composed the film’s original score. Columbia Records will release a soundtrack album featuring Celine Dion’s songs from the movie (including several original tracks), as well as three cues from DeWitt’s score next Friday, May 12. Netflix Music will release a soundtrack album for the streamer’s original film The Mother. The album features the movie’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Germaine Franco (Encanto, Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Vida, Little, Tag). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, May 5 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. The Mother is directed by Niki Caro and stars Jennifer Lopez, Joseph Fiennes, Gael García Bernal, Omari Hardwick, Paul Raci, Lucy Paez, Jesse Garcia, Yvonne Senat Jones and Edie Falco. Germaine Franco Wins Grammy Award for ‘Encanto’ Score
Germaine Franco has won her first Grammy Award for her score for Disney’s animated feature Encanto in the Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media category at today’s 65th Annual Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony in Los Angeles. She previously received an Academy Award nomination for her work on the film. Lin-Manuel Miranda received the Grammy for the movie’s original song We Don’t Talk About Bruno in the Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media category. Encanto was also the winner in the Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Visual Media category. The album was released by Walt Disney Records.
Lin-Manuel Miranda & Germaine Franco Win Annie Award for ‘Encanto’
Lin-Manuel Miranda & Germaine Franco were honored with the Annie Award in the Best Music – Feature category for their music from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Encanto at tonight’s (virtual) 49th Annie Awards ceremony. The other contenders in the category were Dan Romer for Luca, Youki Kojima & Yuta Bandoh for Poupelle of Chimney Town, James Newton Howard & Jhené Aiko for Raya and the Last Dragon and Alex Lacamoire (& Miranda) for Vivo. Franco has previously received an Annie Award as part of the music team of Pixar’s 2017 feature Coco. Miranda’s songs and Franco’s score are now available on the official soundtrack album released by Walt Disney Records.

Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia, The Martian, Shrek, Mulan, Kingdom of Heaven, Man on Fire, The Town) has composed the film’s original score. Interscope Records & Decca Records are set to release a soundtrack album according to the movie’s end credits, but no announcement has been made yet. The album features the original songs from the movie written by Tony and Grammy Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, Moana, In the Heights) performed by the film’s voice cast, as well as the full original score composed by Germaine Franco (Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Tag, Dope, Little). Also included is Colombia, Mi Encanto by Carlos Vives and the original song Dos Oruguitas in two different (Spanish and English language) versions. The digital version also includes instrumental versions of the songs. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here.
