Lin-Manuel Miranda & Germaine Franco were honored with the Annie Award in the Best Music – Feature category for their music from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Encanto at tonight’s (virtual) 49th Annie Awards ceremony. The other contenders in the category were Dan Romer for Luca, Youki Kojima & Yuta Bandoh for Poupelle of Chimney Town, James Newton Howard & Jhené Aiko for Raya and the Last Dragon and Alex Lacamoire (& Miranda) for Vivo. Franco has previously received an Annie Award as part of the music team of Pixar’s 2017 feature Coco. Miranda’s songs and Franco’s score are now available on the official soundtrack album released by Walt Disney Records.

Kali Uchis’ Original Song ‘If It’s to Be’ from Netflix’s ‘Maya and the Three’ Released
Interscope Records has released the original song If It’s to Be from the Netflix animated event series Maya and the Three. The track written by Academy Award winners Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel, 21 Grams, The Book of Life) & Paul Williams (The Muppet Movie, A Star Is Born) and performed by Grammy Award winner Kali Uchis is now available to stream/download as a digital single (which also features a Spanish language version) on all major digital music platforms, including Amazon. As previously reported, a full soundtrack album featuring Santaolla’s themes and Tim Davies’ score from the series will be released this Friday by Milan Records.
‘Maya and the Three’ Soundtrack Album Details
Milan Records will release the official soundtrack album for the Netflix animated event series Maya and the Three. The album features the original music from the show, including the themes composed by Academy Award winner Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel, The Motorcycle Diaries, 21 Grams) and selections of the original score written by Tim Davies (Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, October 22 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Two first tracks (Maya’s Theme by Santaolalla and The Tecas Ride by Davies) are already available to stream/download now and can be checked out after the jump. Maya and the Three is created, executive produced and directed by Jorge R. Gutierrez and features the voice talent of Zoe Saldaña, Gabriel Iglesias, Diego Luna, Gael García Bernal, Alfred Molina, Rita Moreno, Stephanie Beatriz, Kate del Castillo, Cheech Marin, Danny Trejo, Rosie Perez, Queen Latifah and Wyclef Jean.

Gustavo Santaolalla & Tim Davies to Compose Music for Netflix’s ‘Maya and the Three’
Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel, The Motorcycle Diaries, 21 Grams) & Tim Davies (Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia) have teamed up to compose the music for the upcoming Netflix animated limited series Maya and the Three. Santaolalla is providing the themes and Davies is composing the original score for the show created, executive produced and directed by Jorge R. Gutierrez. The 9-parter tells the story of a warrior princess who embarks on a quest to fulfill an ancient prophecy and save humanity from the vengeful gods of the underworld.
