Miju has released a soundtrack album for the French/Belgian hybrid live-action/animated feature Dandelion’s Odyssey (Planètes). The album features the film’s original music composed by Quentin Sirjacq (Asphalt City, Brother, Made in China, I Feel Better, The Islanders), Nicolas Becker (Sound of Metal, A Prayer Before Dawn, Memory House, Earwig) and Eddie Ruscha. Dandelion’s Odyssey is directed by Momoko Seto and follows four dandelion achenes who escape the nuclear destruction of Earth, launching themselves into the corners of space and working together to survive on a strange new world.

The Islanders is written and directed by Alanté Kavaïté and stars Nadia Tereszkiewicz, Dali Benssalah, Miou-Miou, Daphné Patakia and Patrick Chesnais. The movie revolves around a woman taking care of a group of elderly people on a remote island off the coast of France.

Also opening nationwide this weekend is the Irish crime thriller In the Land of Saints & Sinners directed by Robert Lorenz and starring Liam Neeson, Kerry Condon, Ciaran Hinds and Jack Gleeson. Diego Baldenweg with Nora Baldenweg & Lionel Baldenweg (Zwingli, Head Full of Honey, Born to Spy, The Little Witch) have composed the film’s original music. Sony Masterworks will release a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score on April 26. A first track (Irish Western Ballad) is already available to stream/download now. ‘Asphalt City’ Soundtrack Album Details
Atlantic Screen Music/Filmtrax will release a soundtrack album for the thriller Asphalt City. The album features the film’s original music composed by Nicolas Becker (Sound of Metal, A Prayer Before Dawn, Memory House, Earwig) and Quentin Sirjacq (Brother, I Feel Better, Made in China). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, March 29 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Asphalt City is directed by Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire and stars Sean Penn, Tye Sheridan, Michael Pitt, Katherine Waterston, Raquel Nave and Mike Tyson. The movie is based on Shannon Burke’s 2008 novel and follows a young paramedic in New York who is paired with a seasoned partner on the night shift and discovers the risks of a job that every day shakes his beliefs about life and death.
Nicolas Becker & Quentin Sirjacq to Score Luis Felipe Fernández-Salvador’s ‘Lions of the Sea’
Nicolas Becker (Sound of Metal, A Prayer Before Dawn, Earwig, Memory House)& Quentin Sirjacq (Brother, Made in China, I Feel Better) are set to score the upcoming documentary Lions of the Sea. The film directed by Luis Felipe Fernández-Salvador y Campodonico (A Son of Man) is set in the Galapagos Islands and centers on a young sea lion who struggles to fend for himself in the face of food scarcity after losing his mother while fleeing from a group of fishermen and sets out to find a new sanctuary. Becker also serves as the project’s sound designer.

‘Magellan’s Extraordinary Odyssey’ Soundtrack Released
Camera Lucida has released a soundtrack album for the French documentary series Magellan’s Extraordinary Odyssey (L’incroyable périple de Magellan). The album features the show’s original music composed by Quentin Sirjacq (Bright Days Ahead, Brother, Made in China) & Nicolas Becker (Sound of Metal, A Prayer Before Dawn, Earwig). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here, where you can also check out the track list and listen to audio samples. Magellan’s Extraordinary Odyssey directed by François de Riberolles and retraces the 16th Century expedition that saw Fernando Magellan and an ever-dwindling number of sailors complete the first-ever trip around the world.
‘Sound of Metal’ Soundtrack Album Details
The full details of the soundtrack album for the drama Sound of Metal have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score composed by Abraham Marder & Nicolas Becker. Also included is Marder’s original song Green, which has previously been released as a digital single, two versions of the French song Cet Amour Me Tue performed by Arthur H’s & Martha Wainwright and actors Olivia Cooke & Mathieu Amalric, as well as Margaret Chardiet’s Purify and Riz Ahmed’s & Cooke’s performance of the track. The soundtrack is being released by Nonesuch Records and is now available to stream/download on Amazon and other digital music services. Sound of Metal is directed by Darius Marder and also stars Paul Raci and Lauren Ridloff.

Opening in theaters nationwide today is the Chinese action adventure Vanguard co-written and directed by Stanley Tong and starring Jackie Chan, Yang Yang, Miya Muqi, Lun Ai, Ruohan Xu and Zhengting Zhu. The film’s original music is composed by Nathan Wang (She’s All That, The Game Plan, Playing with Fire, You Again, Chinese Zodiac). No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which centers on a covert security company that is the last hope of survival for an accountant after he is targeted by the world’s deadliest mercenary organization, opened in Chinese theaters earlier this year and is being distributed in the U.S. by Gravitas Ventures.
Also opening in theaters nationwide is the drama The Last Vermeer directed by Dan Friedkin and starring Guy Pearce, Claes Bang, Vicky Krieps, August Diehl, Roland Møller, Olivia Grant, Adrian Scarborough and Andrew Havill. Johan Söderqvist (Let the Right One In, Kon-Tiki, The Bridge, Things We Lost in the Fire, After the Wedding) has composed the film’s original music. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today.
