Netflix Music will release a soundtrack album for the German Netflix limited series The Signal (Das Signal). The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Michael Brook (Brooklyn, Into the Wild, The Fighter, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Little America). Also included is the song My Surreality by Little Swift feat. Luca Vasta. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, March 15. The streaming/download link will be added to this soon. The Signal is written by Florian David Fitz, Nadine Gottmann & Kim Zimmermann and stars Fitz himself, Peri Baumeister, Yuna Bennett, Hadi Khanjanpour, Sheeba Chadha, Katharina Schüttler and Nilam Farooq. The 4-part mystery drama follows a missing astronaut who sets her family on a frantic hunt for answers, but the more they uncover, the greater the threat becomes.

Weekly Film Music Roundup (November 20, 2020)
Opening in theaters nationwide today is the Chinese action adventure Vanguard co-written and directed by Stanley Tong and starring Jackie Chan, Yang Yang, Miya Muqi, Lun Ai, Ruohan Xu and Zhengting Zhu. The film’s original music is composed by Nathan Wang (She’s All That, The Game Plan, Playing with Fire, You Again, Chinese Zodiac). No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which centers on a covert security company that is the last hope of survival for an accountant after he is targeted by the world’s deadliest mercenary organization, opened in Chinese theaters earlier this year and is being distributed in the U.S. by Gravitas Ventures.
Also opening in theaters nationwide is the drama The Last Vermeer directed by Dan Friedkin and starring Guy Pearce, Claes Bang, Vicky Krieps, August Diehl, Roland Møller, Olivia Grant, Adrian Scarborough and Andrew Havill. Johan Söderqvist (Let the Right One In, Kon-Tiki, The Bridge, Things We Lost in the Fire, After the Wedding) has composed the film’s original music. ‘Embattled’ Soundtrack Album Details
Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the drama Embattled. The album features the film’s original music composed by Michael Brook (Brooklyn, Into the Wild, The Vow, The Fighter, The Perks of Being a Wallflower). The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 20 and is now available for pre-order here. Embattled is directed by Nick Sarkisov and stars Stephen Dorff, Darren Mann, Colin McKenna, Elizabeth Reaser, Karrueche Tran, Saïd Taghmaou and Donald Faison. The movie tells the story of a man who channels his aggression into a World Champion MMA fighter, but when his second son is born with an incurable developmental disorder, he runs away from his family.

Michael Brook (Brooklyn, Into the Wild, The Fighter, The Vow, The Perks of Being a Wallflower) has composed the original score for the upcoming drama Embattled. The film is directed by Nick Sarkisov and stars Stephen Dorff, Darren Mann, Colin McKenna, Karrueche Tran, Saïd Taghmaou, Elizabeth Reaser and Donald Faison. The movie revolves around a man who channels his aggression into a World Champion MMA fighter, but when his second son is born with Williams Syndrome, an incurable developmental disorder, he runs away from his family. David McKenna (Blow, American History X, Get Carter) wrote the screenplay.

The film is written and directed by Alan Yang (Master of None) and stars Tzi Ma, Christine Ko, Hayden Szeto, Hong-Chi Lee, Kunjue Li, Fiona Fu, James Saito and Joan Chen. The drama revolves around a man as he reflects on the lost love of his youth and his long-ago journey from Taiwan to America as he begins to reconnect with his estranged daughter.

Michael Brook Scoring Apple TV+ Series ‘Little America’
Michael Brook (Brooklyn, Into the Wild, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Fighter) is the composer of the new Apple TV+ original series Little America. The show is created by Lee Eisenberg (The Office, Good Boys) inspired by the true stories featured in Epic Magazin of immigrants in America. The first season features eight stories from different parts of the world. Eisenberg is also executive producing the project with Kumail Nanjiani & Emily V. Gordon (The Big Sick), Alan Yang (Master of None), Sian Heder, Joshuah Bearman, Joshua Davis and Arthur Spector.
