Premiering tonight is the second season of the HBO original series Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty created by Max Borenstein & Jim Hecht and starring John C. Reilly, Quincy Isaiah, Jason Clarke, Adrien Brody, Gaby Hoffmann, Hadley Robinson, Jason Segel, Michael Chiklis and Rob Morgan. Jeff Beal (House of Cards, Rome, Monk, Carnivale, Pollock) has joined Robert Glasper (who shared scoring credit on Season 1 with Nicholas Britell) to co-score the new season. The drama will air Sunday nights on HBO and will also be available to stream on Max.

Premiering on Wednesday, August 9, is the Apple TV+ original animated series Strange Planet created by Dan Harmon & Nathan W. Pyle and starring Tunde Adebimpe, Demi Adejuyigbe, Danny Pudi, Lori Tan Chinn and Hannah Einbinder. Isabella Summers (Little Fires Everywhere, Lady Chatterley’s Lover, The Offer, Physical, Sex/Life, Call Jane) has composed the show’s original music. Soundtrack Album for Netflix’s ‘Painkiller’ Released

Netflix Music has released a soundtrack album for the streamer’s limited series Painkiller. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Matt Morton (Apollo 11, Dinosaur 13, Why Did You Kill Me?). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Painkiller is created by Micah Fitzerman-Blue & Noah Harpster and stars Matthew Broderick, Uzo Aduba, Taylor Kitsch, Dina Shihabi, West Duchovny, John Rothman, Clark Gregg, Jack Mulhern and Sam Anderson. The 6-part drama explores some of the origins and aftermath of the opioid crisis in the U.S., highlighting the stories of perpetrators, truth-seekers and victims whose lives are forever altered by the invention of OxyContin.

The 6-part drama is based on the book Pain Killer by Barry Meier and the New Yorker Magazine article The Family That Built an Empire of Pain by Patrick Radden Keefe and explores some of the origins and aftermath of the opioid crisis in America.

Matt Morton (Apollo 11, Dinosaur 13) has recently scored the new Netflix original documentary Why Did You Kill Me?. The film is directed by Fredrick Munk and tells the story of a mother who uses the social networking site MySpace to investigate the people she believes are responsible for her daughter’s death, resulting in reverberations for multiple families. Munk is also producing the project with Lucy Walker (Waste Land, The Crash Reel) and Julian Cautherley (Clemency, Never Here).

‘Apollo 11’ Soundtrack Details

Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the documentary Apollo 11. The album features the film’s original music composed by Matt Morton (Dinosaur 13). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, March 8 and will be available to download here. Apollo 11 is is directed by Todd Douglas Miller and documents NASA’s most celebrated mission – the one that first put men on the moon, and forever made Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin into household names. The documentary premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and was released in select IMAX theaters last week before expanding to more theaters this coming weekend.

Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the comedy A Madea Family Funeral written, directed and produced by Tyler Perry who also stars in the movie with Cassi Davis and Patrice Lovely. Philip White (Boo 2! A Madea Halloween, Nobody’s Fool) has composed the film’s original score and Christopher Lennertz (Ride Along, Horrible Bosses, Lost in Space, Baywatch) has written the themes. Also opening wide is the psychological thriller Greta directed by Neil Jordan and starring Isabelle Huppert, Chloë Grace Moretz, Maika Monroe, Colm Feore and Stephen Rea. The film’s original music is composed by Javier Navarrete (Pan’s Labyrinth, Wrath of the Titans, The Devil’s Backbone). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs by Julie London, Lucienne Delye, St. Vincent & others. ‘Dinosaur 13’ Soundtrack Released

Lionsgate Records has released a soundtrack album for the documentary Dinosaur 13. The album features the film’s original music composed by Matt Morton. The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. Dinosaur 13 is directed by Todd Miller and follows paleontologist Peter Larson of South Dakota’s Black Hills Institute of Geological Research and his finding of a 65 million year-old tyrannosaurus rex fossil named “Sue.”. The documentary premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and will be released in select theaters on August 15 by Lionsgate.
