He also serves as the music producer of the film, which is directed by Bill Pohlad (Love & Mercy, Dreamin’ Wild) and stars Damson Idris as Miles Davis, Anamaria Vartolomei as Juliette Gréco, J. Alphonse Nicholson as Kenny “Klook” Clarke, Terrace Martin as Charlie “Bird” Parker, Jay Reeves as Tadd Dameron, Lodric D. Collins as Max Roach, Denny Love as James Moody and Hubert Point-Du Jour as John Coltrane.The movie follows Davis as a 22-year-old on a transformative trip to Paris in 1949, where he meets and falls in love with Gréco, the French singer and actress then emerging as the face of the postwar Left Bank.

Apple TV+’s ‘The Big Cigar’ to Feature Original Score by Robert Glasper
Robert Glasper (The Photograph, Miles Ahead, The Best Man: The Final Chapters, Bel-Air) is the composer of the new Apple TV+ limited series The Big Cigar. The show is based on the magazine article of the same name by Joshuah Bearman (Argo) and stars André Holland, Alessandro Nivola, Tiffany Boone, Marc Menchaca, P.J. Byrne, Moses Ingram, Olli Haaskivi, Rebecca Dalton, Jordane Christie and Glynn Turman. The 6-part drama tells the true story of Black Panther founder Huey P. Newton who escaped from the FBI to Cuba with the assistance of movie producer Bert Schneider in an impossibly elaborate plan – involving a fake film production – that goes wrong every way it possibly can.

WaterTower Music has released a new soundtrack album for the HBO original series Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty. The Winning Times Sessions: Season 2 features selections of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Emmy Award winner Jeff Beal (House of Cards, Rome, Monk, Carnivale, Appaloosa, Pollock) and Robert Glasper (The Photograph, Miles Ahead, Bel-Air). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and most other major digital music services. Lake George Music Group has previously released a first soundtrack featuring Nicholas Britell’s and Glasper’s music from Season 1 last month.

The show is developed by Malcolm D. Lee (Girls Trip, Space Jam: A New Legacy) & Dayna Lynne North (Insecure) based on Lee’s The Best Man feature film franchise (scored by Stanley Clarke) and stars Morris Chestnut, Melissa De Sousa, Taye Diggs, Terrence Howard, Regina Hall, Nia Long, Sanaa Lathan and Harold Perrineau.
