Milan Records has released a digital version of the soundtrack album for the 1997 sci-fi drama Gattaca written and directed by Andrew Niccol and starring Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman, Jude Law, Ernest Borgnine, Gore Vidal, Loren Dean and Alan Arkin. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Michael Nyman (The Piano, The End of the Affair, Ravenous, The Claim, Wonderland, Carrington). Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the action thriller sequel The Equalizer 2 directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, Ashton Sanders, Bill Pullman and Melissa Leo. Harry Gregson-Williams (The Martian, The Chronicles of Narnia, Shrek, Unstoppable, Man on Fire) who previously scored the 2014 original movie has composed the film’s original score. Also opening wide is the movie musical Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again directed by Ol Parker and starring Lily James, Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, Julie Walters, Dominic Cooper, Amanda Seyfried, Christine Barankski, Jeremy Irvine, Jessica Keenan Wynn Andy Garcia and Cher. The film’s original score is composed by Anne Dudley (The Full Monty, American History X). Polydor Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie. ‘McQueen’ Soundtrack Details
A soundtrack album will be released for the documentary McQueen. The album features the film’s original music composed by Golden Globe nominee Michael Nyman (The Piano, Gattaca, The End of the Affair, Ravenous). The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 8, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A CD version is also available to order as import by clicking here. McQueen is directed by Ian Bonhôte & Peter Ettedgui and centers on Alexander McQueen, the working-class boy who rose from Savile Row tailor’s apprentice to become the most celebrated and controversial fashion designer in the world.

Golden Globe nominee Michael Nyman (The Piano, Gattaca, The End of the Affair, Ravenous) has composed the music for the upcoming documentary McQueen. The film is directed by Ian Bonhôte (Alleycats) and centers on Alexander McQueen, the working-class boy who rose from Savile Row tailor’s apprentice to become the most celebrated and controversial fashion designer in the world. Bonhôte is also producing the project with Andee Ryder, Nick Taussig & Paul Van Carter (Churchill, My Name Is Lenny).

Opening in most theaters is the holiday comedy Love the Coopers directed by Jessie Nelson and starring Alan Arkin, John Goodman, Ed Helms, Diane Keaton, Jake Lacy, Anthony Mackie, Amanda Seyfried, June Squibb, Marisa Tomei and Olivia Wilde. The film’s original score is composed by Nick Urata (Crazy, Stupid, Love, Paddington). Republic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film by Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Otis Redding, Sixpence None the Richer, Bob Dylan, Nina Simone, as well as track from the score. Also opening wide is the drama The 33 directed by Patricia Riggen and starring Antonio Banderas, Rodrigo Santoro, Juliette Binoche, James Brolin, Lou Diamond Phillips, Bob Gunton and Gabriel Byrne. James Horner (Titanic, Braveheart, Avatar, The Amazing Spider-Man) has composed the film’s original music. The movie is also dedicated to the late composer. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring Horner’s score, as well as two songs by Cote de Pablo and Los Bunkers last week. ‘Ingrid Bergman in Her Own Words’ Soundtrack Details
A soundtrack album for the documentary Ingrid Bergman in Her Own Words has been announced. The album features the film’s original music written by Golden Globe-nominated composer Michael Nyman (The Piano, Gattaca, The End of the Affair, Ravenous). The soundtrack will be released digitally overseas on August 31, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Ingrid Bergman in Her Own Words is directed by Stig Bjorkman and focuses on actress Ingrid Bergman (Casablanca, Notorious) through exclusive private footage, notes, letters, diaries and interviews with her children and former colleagues. Alicia Vikander provides the voice-over for Bergman in the film, which also features appearances by Isabella Rossellini, Pia Lindstrom, Fiorella Mariani, Sigourney Weaver, Liv Ullmann, Jeanine Basinger & more.
Michael Nyman Scoring Spike Lee’s ‘Oldboy’
Michael Nyman has taken over scoring duties on Spike Lee’s upcoming English language remake of Oldboy. The film starring Josh Brolin, Samuel L. Jackson, Elizabeth Olsen and Sharlto Copley follows an advertising executive who is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement and sets out to find out who held him hostage and why when he is inexplicably released. Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend, Thor) has written the screenplay based on Chan-wook Park’s critically acclaimed Korean film from 2003 and Roy Lee & Doug Davison (The Strangers, The Lake House), as well as Nathan Kahane (Juno, 50/50) are producing the Good Universe and Vertigo Entertainment/40 Acres & A Mule Filmworks production. The project marks Nyman’s first major American feature scoring assignment in several years.

Two new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Super 8 directed by J.J. Abrams, produced by Steven Spielberg and staring Elle Fanning, Amanda Michalka, Ron Eldard, Kyle Chandler and Noah Emmerich is opening in most features music composed by Michael Giacchino. As previously announced on this page, Varese Sarabande will be releasing a score album on June 28. Visit MTV Movie Blog for a video interview with Giacchino from the Super 8 premiere and check out a recent article in Variety about the composer’s newest projects. More interviews are expected to appear in the next couple of weeks.
Also opening wide this weekend is the kid’s pic Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer directed by John Schultz and starring Jordana Beatty in the title role, as well as Heather Graham and Jaleel White. Richard Gibbs has written the film’s score. The music was recorded with an 80-piece orchestra at the Newman Scoring Stage on the 20th Century Fox lot in Los Angeles.
