Premiering tonight is the Epix original series Berlin Station created by Olen Steinhauer and starring Richard Armitage, Michelle Forbes, Richard Jenkins, Rhys Ifans, Tamlyn Tomita, Leland Orser, Richard Dillane and Bernhard Schütz. The show’s original music is composed by Reinhold Heil (Run Lola Run, The International, Cloud Atlas, Helix, Deutschland 83). USA’s ‘Eyewitness’ to Feature Music by Keefus Ciancia

Keefus Ciancia is composing the score for the new USA original series Eyewitness. The show is created by Adi Hasak (Shades of Blue, 3 Days to Kill) based on the Norwegian crime thriller Øyevitne and stars Julianne Nicholson, Gil Bellows, Warren Christie, Tattiawna Jones, Matt Murray, James Paxton and Tyler Young. The anthology series’ first season follows two innocent teenage boys who bear witness to a triple-homicide while in the midst of a romantic encounter. Hasak is also executive producing the Universal Cable production with Jarl Emsell Larsen, Scott Peters (V, The 4400), Jackie de Crinis, as well as Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight, Thirteen, Lords of Dogtown) who also directed the first two episodes.

Premiering tonight is the Showtime original series Billions created by Brian Koppelman & David Levien and Andrew Ross Sorkin and starring Paul Giamatti, Damian Lewis, Maggie Siff, Malin Akerman, Toby Leonard Moore, David Costabile and Condola Rashad. The show’s original music is composed by ESKMO aka Brenden Angelides. To learn more about the drama, which follows a hard-driving U.S. attorney who clashes with a hedge fund titan, check out our previous news article. The series will air every Sunday night on Showtime and the first episode is already available to stream for free on various platforms.

Also premiering tonight is the mini-series Mercy Street created by Lisa Q. Wolfinger & David Zabel and starring Josh Radnor, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Gary Cole, Peter Gerety, Norbert Leo Butz, AnnaSophia Robb and Cherry Jones. David Buckley (The Good Wife, The Forbidden King) has composed the music for the 6-parter, which follows the lives of two volunteer nurses on opposing sides of the Civil War. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the final installment in The Hunger Games series, Mockingjay: Part 2 directed by Francis Lawrence and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, Sam Claflin and Jena Malone. The film’s original music is composed by James Newton Howard (Maleficent, King Kong, The Sixth Sense, The Village). Republic Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score digitally on Monday and physically the following week. Also opening wide is the comedy The Night Before directed by Jonathan Levine and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, Anthony Mackie, Lizzy Caplan, Julian Bell, Mindy Kaling and Michael Shannon. Marco Beltrami (Scream, World War Z, 3:10 to Yuma, The Wolverine, Warm Bodies) and Miles Hankins have composed the film’s original score. No soundtrack album has been announced. BBC America’s ‘London Spy’ to Feature Music by David Holmes & Keefus Ciancia

David Holmes and Keefus Ciancia have composed the music for the upcoming BBC America mini-series London Spy. The show is created by author Tom Rob Smith (Child 44) and stars Ben Whishaw, Jim Broadbent, Charlotte Rampling and Edward Holcroft. The five-parter centers around a chance romance between two people from very different worlds, one from the headquarters of the Secret Intelligence Service, the other from a world of clubbing and youthful excess. Jakob Verbruggen (The Fall, The Bridge) is directing all five episodes.

Expected to top the weekend box office is the animated feature Minions directed by Pierre Coffin & Kyle Balda and featuring the voices of Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm, Michael Keaton, Allison Janney, Steve Coogan and Geoffrey Rush. The film’s original music is composed by Heitor Pereira (Despicable Me, The Smurfs, If I Stay, Beverly Hills Chihuahua). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the songs from the movie by artists including including The Turtles, The Kinks, The Who, Donovan and The Spencer Davis Group. Also opening wide is the sci-fi thriller Self/less directed by Tarsem Singh and starring Ryan Reynolds, Natalie Martinez, Matthew Goode, Victor Garber, Derek Luke, Michelle Dockery and Ben Kingsley. Antonio Pinto (City of God, Lord of War, McFarland, USA, The Host, Snitch) and Dudu Aram have composed the film’s original music. Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ music on July 24. ‘Strangerland’ Soundtrack Details

Iris Records & Mister Green Music will release a soundtrack album for the psychological thriller Strangerland. The album features the film’s original music composed by Keefus Ciancia (The Motel Life, Diana, As Above, So Below, Nashville). The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 10, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Strangerland is directed by Kim Farrant and stars Nicole Kidman, Joseph Fiennes, Hugo Weaving, Lisa Flanagan, Meyne Wyatt and Maddison Brown. The movie centers on a couple’s relationship, which is pushed to the brink when their two teenage kids disappear into the remote Australian desert.

Keefus Ciancia is composing the music for the upcoming indie drama Criminal Activities. The film marks the directorial debut of actor Jackie Earle Haley who also stars in the movie alongside John Travolta, Dan Stevens, Michael Pitt, Christopher Abbott and Rob Brown. The drama follows a group of four friends who make a risky investment together that puts them in trouble with the mob. Robert Lowell has written the screenplay. Wayne Rice (Valentine’s Day, Suicide Kings, Dude, Where’s My Car?), Howard Burd and Micah Sparks (4 Minute Mile) are producing the Capacity Pictures, Phoenix Rising Motion Pictures and Producer Capital Fund production.

Two new movies are opening nationwide this week:

Already in theaters since Wednesday is the action thriller The November Man directed by Roger Donaldson and starring Pierce Brosnan, Luke Bracey, Olga Kurylenko, Eliza Taylor, Caterina Scorsone, Bill Smitrovich and Will Patton. Marco Beltrami (World War Z, Scream, The Wolverine, 3:10 to Yuma) has composed the film’s original music. Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music digitally earlier this week. A CD version will be released on September 9. Opening nationwide today is the horror thriller As Above, So Below directed by John Erick Dowdle and starring Perdita Weeks, Ben Feldman, Edwin Hodge, Francois Civil, Marion Lambert, Ali Marhyar, Cosme Castro and Hamidreza Javdan. The film’s original music is composed by Keefus Ciancia (Nashville, Saving Grace, Diana, The Motel Life). No word on a soundtrack release.
