The 6-track EP features the film’s original music composed by Dan Romer (Luca, Station Eleven, Superman & Lois, Maniac, Beasts of No Nation, The Good Doctor) & Benh Zeitlin (Beasts of the Southern Wild, Wendy) who previously co-scored the director’s first feature, Mediterranea. The movie follows a teenager who gradually comes to discover that her close-knit family is not all that it seems.

Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the drama Wendy. The album features the film’s original music composed by Dan Romer (Maniac, The Good Doctor, Atypical, Beasts of No Nation, Digging for Fire) and director Benh Zeitlin who have previously co-scored 2012’s Beasts of the Southern Wild. The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 28 and is now available for pre-order here. ‘Brimstone & Glory’ Soundtrack Released
Drawing Number One has released a soundtrack album for the documentary Brimstone & Glory. The album features the film’s original music composed by Dan Romer (No Time to Die, Beasts of No Nation, Maniac, The Good Doctor) & Benh Zeitlin who have previously co-scored Beasts of the Southern Nation, Mediterranea, as well as several shorts. The soundtrack is now available to download and stream on Amazon Music, where you can also check out audio samples. Brimstone & Glory is directed by Viktor Jakovleski and focuses on the National Pyrotechnic Festival in Tultepec, Mexico, a 10-day celebration of San Juan de Dios, patron saint of firework makers.

Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the final installment in The Hunger Games series, Mockingjay: Part 2 directed by Francis Lawrence and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, Sam Claflin and Jena Malone. The film’s original music is composed by James Newton Howard (Maleficent, King Kong, The Sixth Sense, The Village). Republic Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score digitally on Monday and physically the following week. Also opening wide is the comedy The Night Before directed by Jonathan Levine and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, Anthony Mackie, Lizzy Caplan, Julian Bell, Mindy Kaling and Michael Shannon. Marco Beltrami (Scream, World War Z, 3:10 to Yuma, The Wolverine, Warm Bodies) and Miles Hankins have composed the film’s original score. No soundtrack album has been announced. Mychael Danna Named Film Composer of the Year at World Soundtrack Awards
Mychael Danna was chosen as Film Composer of the Year at the World Soundtrack Awards 2013, tonight’s closing event of the 40th Ghent Film Festival. Danna also received an award for his score for Ang Lee’s Life of Pi in the Best Original Film Score of the Year 2012 category. The composer accepted his awards via a video message. In the Discovery of the Year category, Benh Zeitlin and Dan Romer were awarded for their score for the indie drama Beasts of the Southern Wild, which Zeitlin also directed. In the Best Original Song written directly for a Film category, Adele and Paul Epworth received the honor for the title song for Sam Mendes’ James Bond film Skyfall. For the first time since 2002, both score and song awards matched the outcome of the respective categories at the Academy Awards.

The film’s score is composed by Walter Murphy (Family Guy, American Dad). Universal Republic has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well the original song Everybody Needs a Best Friend performed by Norah Jones and tracks by Queen, Daphne, Hootie and the Blowfish, Rita Coolidge and Tiffany. ‘Beasts of the Southern Wild’ Soundtrack Released
A soundtrack album for the indie drama Beasts of the Southern Wild has been released. The album features the film’s original score composed by Dan Romer and Benh Zeitlin who also directed the film. The soundtrack is now available digitally on iTunes. Beasts of the Southern Wild starring Quvenzhané Wallis and Dwight Henry revolves around an intrepid six-year-old girl who lives with her father in “the Bathtub,” a southern Delta community at the edge of the world and goes in search of her lost mother. The film premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival where it has been picked up by Fox Searchlighy for US distribution. The drama opens today in select cities.

A film that is likely to find distribution within the next few days or weeks given its high profile cast and positive critical reaction is the comedy drama Robot and Frank directed by Jake Schreier. The movie stars Frank Langella as an elderly ex-jewel thief who leads a lonely life until his grown children install a robot to care for him, sparking off an unlikely friendship. Susan Sarandon, James Marsden, Liv Tyler, Peter Saarsgard (as the robot’s voice), Jeremy Sisto and Jeremy Strong are co-starring. Christopher Ford has written the screenplay and Galt Niederhoffer (The Romantics), Sam Bisbee, Jackie Kelman Bisbee and Lance Acord (BAFTA-nominated cinematographer for Lost in Translation) are producing. The film’s music is written by Francis and the Lights (aka Francis Farewell Starlit). The project marks the singer/songwriter’s first film music project.
