Lakeshore Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the A&E original series Bates Motel. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed by Chris Bacon (Source Code, Gnomeo & Juliet, Alpha and Omega, Smash). The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 28, 2016 and physically on November 11. Visit Amazon to pre-order the CD. Varese Sarabande has previously released a soundtrack album featuring selections of the composer’s score from the first two seasons. Bates Motel created by Carlton Cuse, Kerry Ehrin & Anthony Cipriano and starring Freddie Highmore, Vera Farmiga, Max Thieriot, Olivia Cooke, Nicola Peltz, Nestor Carbonell and Mike Vogel centers on Norman Bates’ formative years.

Soundtrack Album for BBC’s ‘War & Peace’ to Be Released
Dubois Records will release a soundtrack album for the BBC mini-series War & Peace. The album features the 6-parter’s original music composed by Martin Phipps (The Woman in Gold, Brighton Rock, Harry Brown, The Honorable Woman). The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 13, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. War & Peace is directed by Tom Harper and stars Paul Dano, Lily James, James Norton, Jim Broadbent, Gillian Anderson, Brian Cox, Ken Stott, Stephen Rea, Greta Scacchi, Jack Lowden, Tom Burke and Aisling Loftus. The epic drama based on Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel was adapted by Andrew Davies and premiered earlier this year in the UK on BBC and in the U.S. on Lifetime, A&E and History.
Alex Heffes to Score History’s ‘Roots’
Alex Heffes has been hired to compose the music for the upcoming History event mini-series Roots. The 8-parter stars Forest Whitaker, Anna Paquin, Laurence Fishburne, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Anika Noni Rose, Chad L. Coleman, Erica Tazel, Derek Luke, Malachi Kirby and Regé-Jean. The drama is based on Alex Haley’s novel of the same title and chronicles the history of an African slave sold to America and his descendants. Phillip Noyce (Patriot Games, Salt), Thomas Carter (Coach Carter), Mario Van Peebles (New Jack City) and Bruce Beresford (Driving Miss Daisy) are directing the episodes.

Premiering tomorrow, March 7, is the new A&E original series Damien created by Glen Mazzaro and starring Bradley James, Barbara Hershey, Omid Abtahi and Meganlyn Echikunwoke. The show’s original music is composed by Bear McCreary (The Walking Dead, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Battlestar Galactica, Outlander, 10 Cloverfield Lane) is composing the show’s original music. Trevor Morris (Immortals, The Borgias, Olympus/London Has Fallen, Vikings) is composing the show’s original music. Premiering in the U.S. tonight is the British TV series Home Fires starring Samantha Bond, Francesca Annis, Ed Stoppard, Ruth Gemmell, Claire Rushbrook, Frances Grey, Clare Calbraith and Rachel Hurd-Wood. The show’s original music is composed by Samuel Sim (Awake). Home Fires based on the book Jambusters by Julie Summers is set during World War II and follows a group of inspirational women in a rural Cheshire community. Martin Phipps is composing the music for the upcoming mini-series War and Peace. The epic drama is directed by Tom Harper (Peaky Blinders, The Woman in Black: Angel of Death) and stars Paul Dano, Lily James, James Norton, Jim Broadbent, Gillian Anderson, Brian Cox, Ken Stott, Stephen Rea, Greta Scacchi, Jack Lowden, Tom Burke and Aisling Loftus. Andrew Davies (House of Cards, Bridget Jones’s Diaries) has written the scripts for the 6-parter based on Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel. Davies is also executive producing the project with Faith Penhale & Bethan Jones (Sherlock) for BBC Cymru Wales, Harvey Weinstein & Robert Walak for the Weinstein Company and Simon Vaughan (Ripper Street, Parade’s End) for Lookout Point.
Bear McCreary to Score A&E’s ‘Damien’
Bear McCreary has been tapped to score the upcoming A&E original series Damien. The show is created by Glen Mazzaro and stars Bradley James, Barbara Hershey, Omid Abtahi and Meganlyn Echikunwoke. The drama is a follow-up to the classic 1976 feature The Omen and centers on Damien Thorn, the mysterious child from the film who has grown up seemingly unaware of the satanic forces around him and must now come to terms with his true destiny — that he is the Antichrist. Mazzaro is also executive producing the Fox 21 Television Studios production with Ross Fineman (Lights Out) and Pancho Mansfield.
