Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the first soundtrack release for the A&E original series Bates Motel. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Chris Bacon (Source Code, Smash!). The soundtrack will be released on August 25, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Bates Motel is created by Carlton Cuse, Kerry Ehrin & Anthony Cipriano and stars Freddie Highmore, Vera Farmiga, Max Thieriot, Olivia Cooke, Nicola Peltz, Nestor Carbonell and Mike Vogel. The first season of the show about Norman Bates’ formative years is now available on Blu-ray and DVD and the second season premiered this spring on A&E.

Premiering on Tuesday, March 4, is the new A&E drama Those Who Kill developed by Glen Morgan based on the Danish television series Den som dræber and starring Chloe Sevigny, James D’Arcy, James Morrison and Omid Abtahi. Chromatic’s and Glass Candy’s Johnny Jewel (Bronson) is composing the show’s original score. Those Who Kill follows a newly promoted homicide detective who tracks down a serial killer while coming to terms with her past. The drama will air every Tuesday night on A&E. The music of the two-parter is composed by John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Elf, Hatfield & McCoys). La-La Land Records will release a soundtrack album for the television event Bonnie & Clyde. The album features the original score from the mini-series composed by Academy Award nominee John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Elf, Iron Man 2). The soundtrack will be released on December 10, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Bonnie & Clyde is directed by Bruce Beresford (Driving Miss Daisy) and stars Emile Hirsch and Holliday Grainger in the title roles of Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker, the 1930s couple whose crime spree enraptured the American public. Holly Hunter, William Hurt, Sarah Hyland, Elizabeth Reaser, Lane Garrison, Austin Hebert and Dale Dickey are also starring in the four hour mini-series, which will premiere over two nights on December 8 & 9 on the History, Lifetime and A&E networks.
John Debney Scoring ‘Bonnie & Clyde’ Mini-Series and ‘Walk of Shame’
John Debney is scoring the upcoming Lifetime/History Channel mini-series Bonnie & Clyde. The four hour series is directed by Bruce Beresford (Driving Miss Daisy, Double Jeopardy) and stars Emile Hirsch and Holliday Grainger in the title roles of Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker, the 1930s couple whose crime spree enraptured the American public. Holly Hunter, William Hurt, Sarah Hyland, Elizabeth Reaser, Lane Garrison, Austin Hebert and Dale Dickey are co-starring. Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (Steel Magnolias, The Bucket List, Chicago) are producing the Sony Pictures Television production. John Rice and Joe Batteer (Windtalkers, Blown Away) have written the script. Debney has previously co-scored the History Channel’s Golden Globe- and Emmy-winning mini-series Hatfields & McCoys for Sony Pictures Television.
Ryan Gosling’s ‘How to Catch a Monster’ to Feature Music by Johnny Jewel
Johnny Jewel revealed in a recent interview with Noisey (via The Playlist) that he is writing music for Ryan Gosling’s upcoming directorial debut How to Catch a Monster. The film stars Christina Hendricks, Saoirse Ronan, Eva Mendes, Iain De Caestecker, Matt Smith and Ben Mendelsohn. The movie is set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city and centered on a single mother of two being swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while her teenage son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town. Marc Platt (Drive, 2 Guns, Legally Blonde) & Adam Siegel are producing the project for Marc Platt Productions, alongside Michel Litvak & David Lancaster (Bobby, Legion) for Bold Films. Gosling who has also written the screenplay is also producing for Phantasma Films.
‘Longmire’ Season 1 Soundtrack Announced
WaterTower Music will release a soundtrack album for A&E’s crime drama series Longmire. The album features selections from the score of the show’s first season composed by David Shephard. The soundtrack will be released on May 28, 2013. Audio clips will be added to this article within the next week. Longmire created by John Coveny and Hunt Baldwin is based on Craig Johnson’s Walt Longmire series of mystery novels and stars Robert Taylor, Katee Sackhoff, Bailey Chase, Adam Bartley, Cassidy Freeman and Lou Diamond Phillips. The show’s complete first season will be released on DVD on May 28 (click here to pre-order the DVD set) and the second season is set to premiere on May 27 and will air every Monday night on A&E.

Chris Bacon has been hired to score A&E Network’s upcoming TV series Bates Motel. The show is a contemporary prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s classic movie Psycho and chronicles how Norman Bates’ psyche unravels through his teenage years. Freddie Highmore stars as Norman Bates and Vera Farmiga plays his mother Norma. Max Thieriot, Olivia Cooke, Nicola Peltz, Nestor Carbonell and Mike Vogel are co-starring. Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Kerry Ehrin (Friday Night Lights) are executive producing the Universal Television production. Bates Motel is set to premiere on March 18, 2013 on A&E. The first season of ten episodes will be airing every Monday night.
