Executive producers Raj Kapoor, Molly McNearney & Katy Mullan announced today the performers of the Oscar-nominated songs at next week’s 96th Academy Awards ceremony, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. Jon Batiste will perform his song It Never Went Away (co-written with Dan Wilson) from the Netflix documentary American Symphony, Becky G will perform the Diane Warren-penned The Fire Inside from Eva Longoria’s Flamin’ Hot, Billie Eilish & Finneas O’Connell will perform their hit song What Was I Made For from Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, Ryan Gosling & Mark Ronson will perform I’m Just Ken from Barbie and Scott George and the Osage Singers will perform Wahzhazhe (A Song For My People) from Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flowe Moon.

‘Ken The EP’ Released
Atlantic Records has released an EP featuring three new versions of the original song I’m Just Ken from Greta Gerwig’s fantasy comedy Barbie. The 4-track EP features a holiday version (Merry Kristmas Barbie), an acoustic version (In My Feelings Acoustic) and a dance rremix (Purple Disco Machine Remix) of the track written by Mark Ronson & Andrew Wyatt and performed by Ryan Gosling (in addition to the original version) and is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. ‘City of Stars’ from ‘La La Land’ Released
Interscope Records has released the first song from the upcoming movie musical La La Land. The track, entitled City of Stars, is performed by Ryan Gosling, written by Justin Hurwitz (Whiplash) and features lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The song is now available to download on Amazon and is also featured in the movie’s first teaser trailer, which premiered today and is embedded after the jump. Interscope will release a full soundtrack album later this year. La La Land is written and directed by Damien Chazelle (Whiplash) and stars Gosling, Emma Stone, J. K. Simmons, Finn Wittrock, Rosemarie DeWitt and Meagen Fay. The movie follows a jazz musician who falls in love with an aspiring actress in Los Angeles.
‘Lost River’ Soundtrack Released
Italians Do It Better has released a soundtrack album for Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut Lost River. The album features the film’s original music composed by Johnny Jewel (Bronson, Those Who Kill). Also included is the movie’s love theme by Jewel’s band Chromatics, as well as tracks by Glass Candy, Larry Clinton, Desire, Sunset Four & more. The soundtrack is now available on iTunes. Ryan Gosling’s ‘How to Catch a Monster’ to Feature Music by Johnny Jewel
Johnny Jewel revealed in a recent interview with Noisey (via The Playlist) that he is writing music for Ryan Gosling’s upcoming directorial debut How to Catch a Monster. The film stars Christina Hendricks, Saoirse Ronan, Eva Mendes, Iain De Caestecker, Matt Smith and Ben Mendelsohn. The movie is set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city and centered on a single mother of two being swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while her teenage son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town. Marc Platt (Drive, 2 Guns, Legally Blonde) & Adam Siegel are producing the project for Marc Platt Productions, alongside Michel Litvak & David Lancaster (Bobby, Legion) for Bold Films. Gosling who has also written the screenplay is also producing for Phantasma Films.
