Singer/songwriter, jazz pianist and composer Jon Batiste (Soul, Saturday Night, American Symphony, The First Wave) has been hired to score the upcoming remake of the heist thriller classic The Thomas Crown Affair. The film marks the second feature directorial effort of actor Michael B. Jordan following 2023’s Creed III and stars Jordan himself, Adria Arjona, Kenneth Branagh, Aubrey Plaza, Lily Gladstone, Pilou Asbaek, Paapa Essiedu, Danai Gurira and Ruth Negga. No plot details have been announced yet for the movie based on Norman Jewison’s 1968 feature (scored by Michel Legrand), which has previously been remade in 1999 directed by John McTiernan and scored by Bill Conti.

Hans Zimmer Wins Grammy Award for ‘Dune: Part Two’ Score
Hans Zimmer has won his fifth Grammy Award for his score from Dune Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two in the Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media category at today’s 67th Annual Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony in Los Angeles. He was previously honored with a Grammy in the same category for his music for Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. Jon Batiste & Dan Wilson received the award for the original song It Never Went Away from the documentary American Symphony in the Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media category.

Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the animated feature The Wild Robot written and directed by Chris Sanders and starring Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, Kit Connor, Catherine O’Hara, Bill Nighy, Stephanie Hsu, Matt Berry, Ving Rhames and Mark Hamill. The film’s original score is composed by Kris Bowers (Bridgerton, Green Book, King Richard, Haunted Mansion, Secret Invasion, The Color Purple, Dear White People, Mrs. America). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as two original songs co-written and performed by Maren Morris today. Also opening nationwide is the sci-fi epic Megalopolis written and directed by Francis Ford Coppola and starring Adam Driver, Nathalie Emmanuel, Giancarlo Esposito, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight, Kathryn Hunter, Dustin Hoffman and Laurence Fishburne. Osvaldo Golijov (Youth Without Youth, The Man Who Cried, Twixt, The Oath) has composed the film’s original score. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, two original songs by Grace VanderWaal and several tracks by other artists today. Verve Records will release a soundtrack album for the biographical comedy drama Saturday Night. The album features the film’s original score written and recorded live on set by Academy Award and Grammy Award winner Jon Batiste (Soul, American Symphony). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, September 27 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. The film is directed by Jason Reitman (Juno, Up in the Air, Ghostbusters: Afterlife) and stars Gabriel LaBelle as SNL creator Lorne Michaels, alongside Cooper Hoffman, Rachel Sennott, Matt Wood, Ella Hunt, Cory Michael Smith, Dylan O’Brien, Lamorne Morris, J.K. Simmons, Emily Fairn, Kim Matula, Andrew Barth Feldman, Kaia Gerber and Finn Wolfhard . The movie tells the behind the scenes story of what happened in the moments leading up to the first broadcast of NBC’s Saturday Night Live.

In a tie, Carlos Rafael Rivera has won his first Grammy Award for his score for the Netflix limited series The Queen’s Gambit and Jon Batiste, Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross were honored for their music for Pixar’s Soul in the Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media category at today’s 64th Annual Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony in Las Vegas. Bo Burnham has has received the award in the Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media category for the song All Eyes On Me from the comedy special Inside.
