Kris Bowers was honored with his first Annie Award in the Feature category for his music from DreamWorks Animation’s The Wild Robot at tonight’s 52nd Annie Awards ceremony at UCLA’s Royce Hall. Bowers’ score was released by Back Lot Music. The other contenders in the category were Stuart Hancock for Kensuke’s Kingdom, Pharrell Williams & Michael Andrews for Piece by Piece, John Powell, Ed Sheeran & Johnny McDaid for That Christmas and Lorne Balfe & Julian Nott for Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.

Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the animated feature The Wild Robot written and directed by Chris Sanders and starring Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, Kit Connor, Catherine O’Hara, Bill Nighy, Stephanie Hsu, Matt Berry, Ving Rhames and Mark Hamill. The film’s original score is composed by Kris Bowers (Bridgerton, Green Book, King Richard, Haunted Mansion, Secret Invasion, The Color Purple, Dear White People, Mrs. America). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as two original songs co-written and performed by Maren Morris today. Also opening nationwide is the sci-fi epic Megalopolis written and directed by Francis Ford Coppola and starring Adam Driver, Nathalie Emmanuel, Giancarlo Esposito, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight, Kathryn Hunter, Dustin Hoffman and Laurence Fishburne. Osvaldo Golijov (Youth Without Youth, The Man Who Cried, Twixt, The Oath) has composed the film’s original score. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, two original songs by Grace VanderWaal and several tracks by other artists today. The full details of the soundtrack album for DreamWorks Animation’s feature The Wild Robot have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score composed by Kris Bowers (Bridgeton, King Richard, Green Book, Secret Invasion, Haunted Mansion, The Color Purple, Dear White People, Space Jam: A New Legacy). Also included is the original song Kiss the Sky co-written and performed by Maren Morris (previously released as a digital single), as well as the end credits song Even When I’m Not by the singer/songwriter. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, September 27 by Back Lot Music and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Kris Bowers (King Richard, Green Book, Secret Invasion, Haunted Mansion, Space Jam: A New Legacy, The Color Purple, Dear White People) has been tapped to score the upcoming animated feature The Wild Robot. The film is written and directed by Chris Sanders (Lilo & Stitch, The Croods) and features the voices of Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, Catherine O’Hara, Kit Connor, Bill Nighy, Stephanie Hsu, Matt Berry, Mark Hamill and Ving Rhames. The movie based on the novel of the same title by Peter Brown follows the journey of a robot that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling.
