Darkroom & Interscope Records will release the companion “soundtrack” album for the concert documentary Billie Eilish: Hit Me Hard and Soft – The Tour. The album features the songs from the film by the Grammy Award- and Academy Award-winning singer/songwriter, recorded during her sold-out world tour. The soundtrack will be released on 100% recycled triple vinyl as a one-time-only pressing, uniquely colored with a lenticular insert, next Friday, May 1 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A digital version is expected to be available on the same day. A first track (Intro) is already available to stream/download now (check out the official visualizer video after the jump). Jerskin Fendrix Named Film Composer of the Year at World Soundtrack Awards
Jerskin Fendrix was named Film Composer of the Year at the 24th World Soundtrack Awards, tonight’s closing event of the 51st Ghent Film Festival, for his scores for Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things (for which he also received an Academy Award nomination earlier this year) and Kinds of Kindness. He was also the winner in the Discovery of the Year category. Natalie Holt was honored as TV Composer of the Year today for her score for the second season of Marvel’s Disney+ series Loki. She has previously been nominated twice in the category and also received a Discovery nomination in 2021. Billie Eislish and Finneas O’Connell won the award in the Original Song category for What Was I Made For? from Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, for which they also received an Academy Award this year.
Ludwig Göransson Wins Academy Award for ‘Oppenheimer’ Score
Ludwig Göransson was honored with his second Academy Award for his score for Christopher Nolan’s drama Oppenheimer at tonight’s 96th Oscar ceremony. He previously won his first Oscar for his music from Marvel’s Black Panther in 2019 and was also nominated last year for the song Lift Me Up from its sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Jon Batiste will perform his song It Never Went Away (co-written with Dan Wilson) from the Netflix documentary American Symphony, Becky G will perform the Diane Warren-penned The Fire Inside from Eva Longoria’s Flamin’ Hot, Billie Eilish & Finneas O’Connell will perform their hit song What Was I Made For from Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, Ryan Gosling & Mark Ronson will perform I’m Just Ken from Barbie and Scott George and the Osage Singers will perform Wahzhazhe (A Song For My People) from Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flowe Moon.

Billie Eilish’s Original Song ‘What Was I Made For?’ from ‘Barbie’ Soundtrack Released
Darkroom/Interscope Records have released the seventh song from the soundtrack for Greta Gerwig’s fantasy comedy Barbie. Available to stream/download now on all major digital music services is What Was I Made For? co-written (with FINNEAS) and performed by Billie Eilish. FINNEAS also produced the track with the movie’s composers Mark Ronson & Andrew Wyatt. Check out the official music video after the jump. The song will also be included on the film’s official soundtrack album (to be released on July 21 by Atlantic Records). Six first songs from the album have already been released in the last couple of weeks.

Hans Zimmer was honored with the Critics Choice Award in the Best Score category for his music for Denis Villeneuve’s Dune at tonight’s 27th Critics Choice Awards ceremony in Los Angeles. He previously won the award back in 2001 for his scores for Gladiator, Mission: Impossible 2 and The Road to El Dorado and was nominated multiple other times. The other composers nominated in the category were Nicholas Britell for Don’t Look Up, Jonny Greenwood for The Power of the Dog and Spencer and Nathan Johnson for Nightmare Alley.
