Premiering tonight is the new Showtime original series Masters of Sex created by Michelle Ashford and starring Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan as real-life pioneers of the science of human sexuality, William Masters and Virginia Johnson, as well as Caitlin Fitzgerald, Nicholas D’Agosto and Teddy Sears. The show’s original score is composed by Michael Penn (Girls, Boogie Nights, Sunshine Cleaning). John Madden (Shakespeare in Love) has directed the pilot episode. Danny Lux Scoring CBS’ ‘The Millers’
Danny Lux is scoring the new CBS comedy The Millers. The show is created by Greg Garcia and stars Will Arnett, Margo Martindale, Jayma Mays, JB Smoove, Nelson Franklin, Eve Moon and Beau Bridges. The series follows a recently divorced local roving news reporter looking forward to living the singles life until his parents’ marital problems unexpectedly derail his plan. Garcia is also executive producing the CBS Television Studios production. Lux has previously scored the Garcia-created comedy My Name is Earl and is also scoring the writer/producer’s Fox comedy Raising Hope with Matt Mariano.

Premiering tomorrow, June 3, on ABC is the new drama Mistresses starring Alyssa Milano, Yunjin Kim, Rochelle Aytes, Jes Macallan, Brett Tucker, Jason George and Erik Stocklin. The series about the scandalous lives of a sexy and sassy group of four girlfriends is based on the UK series of the same title and is executive produced by Rina Mimoun (Privileged), K.J. Steinberg (Gossip Girl), Robert Sertner (Revenge) and Douglas Rae (Wuthering Heights). The show’s original score is composed by Danny Lux (Grey’s Anatomy, Ally McBeal, Boston Legal). Rob Simonsen (500 Days of Summer, The Way, Way Back) also contributed music for the pilot episode. Mistresses will air every Monday night on ABC. Danny Lux to Score TNT’s ‘Monday Mornings’
Danny Lux has been tapped to score the new TNT original series Monday Mornings. The drama is created by David E. Kelley and stars Alfred Molina, Ving Rhames, Jamie Bamber, Jennifer Finnigan, Bill Irwin, Keong Sim, Sarayu Rao and Emily Swallow. The show based on a novel by practicing neurosurgeon and CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta is set at the fictional Chelsea General Hospital in Portland, Oregon and follows the lives of a group of doctors as they push the limits of their abilities and confront their personal and professional failings. Kelley is executing producing the show with Gupta and Bill D’Elia (The West Wing, The Practice) who also directed the pilot. Lux has previously scored several shows for Kelley, including the Emmy-winning hit shows Ally McBeal and Boston Legal, and most recently the second season of NBC’s Harry’s Law.

TNT:
The most successful new show of the summer on TNT is the sci-fi series Falling Skies. The project starring Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Drew Roy, Sarah Carter and Maxim Knight is produced by Steven Spielberg and centers on an alien invasion of Earth and the resistance formed by the survivor. Also producing are Graham Yost (Justified) and Robert Rodat (writer of Saving Private Ryan). Noah Sorota is scoring the show. 2011 Summer Television Music Roundup (Part 2)
In our second part of this summer’s roundup of television scores, we’re taking a look at the new and returning shows on FX, ABC Family and Starz. Also visit our previous article featuring shows on ABC, NBC, CBS, USA and Showtime.
FX:
The only new show this summer on FX is the comedy Wilfred. The show stars Elijah Wood as a depressed and unemployed worker who imagines seeing a man in a dog costume. Jason Gann and Fiona Gubelmann are co-starring and guest stars include Ed Helms, Chris Klein and Rashida Jones. Jim Dooley (Pushing Daisies, Obsessed) is providing the score for the show. Wilfred is based on an Australian series with the same title and is adapted by David Zuckerman (Family Guy, American Dad). Randall Einhorn (The Office, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) directed the pilot. The show’s first season of 13 episodes is currently airing every Thursday night on FX.

Airing every Tuesday night on the network is the drama Combat Hospital. The show centers on a group of doctors and nurses from Canada, the U.S., the U.K. and other allied countries saving lives and limbs in a war zone military hospital modeled on a real facility in Afghanistan. Deborah Kara Unger, Michelle Borth, Elias Koteas, Terry Chen, Arnold Pinnock and Luke Mably are starring. The show’s music is composed by Edmund Butt (The Dark, Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes) and additional music is written by Samuel Sim (The Deep).
