A number of new TV shows are premiering this week:

Premiering this Monday, September 17 on NBC is the new drama Revolution created by Eric Kripke, produced by J.J. Abrams and starring Billy Burke, Tracy Spiridako, Elizabeth Mitchell, Anna Lise Phillips, Zak Orth and Giancarlo Esposito. Christopher Lennertz (Horrible Bosses, Hop) who is also scoring the Kripke-created CW series Supernatural is writing the original music for the sci-fi show, which follows follows a group of people struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist. Jon Favreau (Iron Man) has directed the pilot episode, which is now available to download for free on iTunes.

Scott Starrett to Score FOX’s ‘The Mob Doctor’

Scott Starrett has been hired to score the new FOX drama The Mob Doctor. The show created by Josh Berman and Rob Wright stars Jordana Spiro as a doctor torn between the physician’s Hippocratic Oath and her own family’s mob ties. William Forsythe, Jaime Lee Kirchner, James Carpinello, Jesse Lee Soffer and Zach Gilford are co-starring. Michael Dinner (Sons of Anarchy, The Wonder Years) has directed the pilot episode and is executive producing the Sony Pictures Television production with Berman and Wright.

2011 Summer Television Music Roundup (Part 3)

In our final part of our roundup of this summer’s television scores, we’ll take a look at the shows on TNT, Syfy, HBO and Lifetime. Also check out Part 1 and Part 2 of the series for the composers on all the other major network and cable shows of the summer.

TNT:

The most successful new show of the summer on TNT is the sci-fi series Falling Skies. The project starring Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Drew Roy, Sarah Carter and Maxim Knight is produced by Steven Spielberg and centers on an alien invasion of Earth and the resistance formed by the survivor. Also producing are Graham Yost (Justified) and Robert Rodat (writer of Saving Private Ryan). Noah Sorota is scoring the show. ‘The Event’ Score by Scott Starrett released

Earlier this week, a soundtrack album for the NBC sci-fi mystery drama The Event has been released. The album features 27 tracks of the original score from the show composed by Scott Starrett. The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to sound clips from all tracks. To learn more about the composer’s score on the project, check out two video interviews below courtesy of ASCAP and BuzzFocus.com. The Event created by Nick Wauters stars Jason Ritter, Sarah Roemer, Laura Innes, Ian Anthony Dale, Scott Patterson, Clifton Collins Jr. and Blair Underwood. While NBC didn’t pick up the show for a second season, there have been talks about a possible future for the show on cable.
