Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the superhero movie Shazam! Fury of the Gods directed by David F. Sandberg and starring Zachary Levi, Jack Dylan Grazer, Asher Angel, Rachel Zegler, Lucy Liu, Helen Mirren, Adam Brody, Meagan Good, Ross Butler, D.J. Cotrona and Djimon Hounsou. The film’s original music is composed by Christophe Beck (Ant-Man series, Frozen, WandaVision, Free Guy, Edge of Tomorrow, The Hangover). . Opening semi-wide in around 800 theaters is the comedy drama Moving On written and directed by Paul Weitz and starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Malcolm McDowell and Richard Roundtree. Amanda Jones (Naomi, Super/Natural, Twenties, Good Trouble, Adventure Time: Distant Lands, Somebody Somewhere) has composed the film’s original score. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows two estranged friends who reunite to seek revenge on the petulant widower of their recently deceased best friend, premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival and is being released by Roadside Attractions.

‘The Forger’ Soundtrack Album Details

MovieScore Media will release a soundtrack album for the German drama The Forger (Der Passfälscher). The album features the film’s original music composed by Mario Grigorov (Precious, The Paperboy, Kill Chain, Shadowdancer, Petals on the Wind). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Thursday, October 13 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Forger is written and directed by Maggie Peren and stars Louis Hofmann, Jonathan Berlin, Nina Gummich, Luna Wedler, André Jung, Marc Limpach and Yotam Ishay. The movie tells the true story of Cioma Schönhaus, a Jewish man who repeatedly escaped the Gestapo during World War II thanks to his ability to forge passports.

Opening in nationwide this weekend is the musical drama West Side Story directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Ansel Elgort, Rachel Zegler, Ariana DeBose, Mike Faist, Josh Andrés Rivera, David Alvarez, Corey Stoll, Brian d’Arcy James, Ana Isabelle and Rita Moreno. The film’s music was originally written for the stage musical of the same title by Leonard Bernstein (with lyrics by Stephen Sondheim) and has been adapted by David Newman (Anastasia, Ice Age, Serenity, The Flintstones). Gustavo Dudamel conducted the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonic. Hollywood Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs and score from the movie last week. Also opening wide is the sports drama National Champions directed by Ric Roman Waugh and starring Stephan James, J.K. Don’t Panic Records has released a soundtrack album for the sci-fi series Spides. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Mario Grigorov (Precious, Shadowdancer, The Paperboy, Kill Chain, Petals on the Wind) & Steven Schwalbe. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and other digital music stores. Spides is created by Rainer Matsutani and stars Rosabell Laurenti Sellers, Falk Hentschel, Damian Hardung, Florence Kasumba, Désirée Nosbusch, Susanne Wuest and Aleksandar Jovanovic. The 8-parter is set in modern-day Berlin and follows a woman who falls into a coma after taking an unknown drug and wakes with no memory of her previous life.

The film is written and directed by Adam Ethan Crow and stars John Hannah, Corey Johnson, Oded Fehr, Katarina Cas, Julian Kostov, Alexandra Gilbreath and Jen Brister. The movie follows a fractured family forced to face their demons as they unwittingly become embroiled in a man’s attempt to prove the existence of the supernatural in order to overturn a friend’s murder conviction. Shelley Atkin is producing the Ditto Films production.

The movie revolves around three strangers whose lives are inevitably entangled in a conflict none of them are prepared for. Premiering tonight is the National Geographic original series Valley of the Boom created by Matthew Carnahan and starring Bradley Whitford, Steve Zahn, Lamorne Morris, John Karna, Dakota Shapiro and Oliver Cooper. The show’s original music is composed by Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein (Stranger Things, Butterfly, Native Son). Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score from the project (click here for the full album details), as well as a separate album featuring a selections of songs from the series (click here for more information).

Premiering tomorrow, January 14, is the Fox drama The Passage developed by Liz Heldens based on Justin Cronin’s book series and starring Saniyya Sidney, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Caroline Chikezie, Henry Ian Cusick, Vincent Piazza and Emmanuelle Chriqui. Jeff Russo (Fargo, Legion, Star Trek: Discovery, The Night Of) and Jordan Gagne (The Rookie, Waco) are composing the show’s original music.
