Premiering tonight is the HBO original movie The Normal Heart directed by Ryan Murphy and starring Mark Ruffalo, Taylor Kitsch, Matt Bomer, Julia Roberts, Jim Parsons, Jonathan Groff, Alfred Molina, Joe Mantello, Denis O’Hare, Stephen Spinella and Corey Stoll. The film’s original music is composed by Cliff Martinez (Traffic, Drive, Solaris, Contagion). The movie is based on a play by Larry Kramer and tells the story of the onset of the HIV-AIDS crisis in New York City in the early 1980s. Mario Grigorov Scoring Lifetime’s ‘Petals on the Wind’
Mario Grigorov is composing the score for the upcoming Lifetime original movie Petals on the Wind. The film is a sequel to Flowers in the Attic, which also featured a score by the composer, and stars Heather Graham, Ellen Burstyn and Dylan Bruce who will reprise their roles from the original. They are joined by Rose McIver, Wyatt Nash, Bailey Buntain and Will Kemp. The drama is set ten years after the first film and follows the family as they attempt to put their sordid past behind them, but tragedy strikes again, forcing Cathy to confront her grandmother and seek revenge on her mother. Merideth Finn & Michele Weiss are executive producing the project with Charles W. Fries, Rob Sharenow, Tanya Lopez and Lisa Hamilton Daly.

Premiering tonight is the HBO original series True Detective created by Nic Pizzolatto, directed by Cary Fukunaga (Jane Eyre) and starring Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Michelle Monaghan, Jay O. Sanders, Lili Simmons, Alexandra Daddario, Michael Potts, Kevin Dunn, Tory Kittles, Elizabeth Reaser and Brad Carter. T Bone Burnett (Inside Llewyn Davis, O Brother Where Are Thou?) is composing the show’s original score. True Detective follows two cops whose lives intersect during a 17-year serial killer investigation in Louisiana. The drama will air every Sunday night on HBO. Mario Grigorov to Score Lifetime’s ‘Flowers in the Attic’
Mario Grigorov has been hired to score the upcoming Lifetime original movie Flowers in the Attic. The film based on V.C. Andrews’ bestselling novel stars Heather Graham, Ellen Burstyn, Kiernan Shipka, Mason Dye and Dylan Bruce. The movie follows four young siblings, two boys and two girls, who, after the tragic death of their father, are subjected to cruel emotional and physical abuse resulting from a dark, long-hidden family secret. Deborah Chow (The High Cost of Living) is directing the thriller from a script by Kayla Alpert (Confessions of a Shopaholic). Merideth Finn (The Rite), Michele Weiss (Dear John) and Charles W. Fries (Screamers) are executive producing the project.

Two new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the action thriller Taken 2 directed by Olivier Megaton and starring Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace, Famke Janssen and Rade Šerbedžija. The film’s music is composed by Nathaniel Mechaly who previously scored the 2008 original film. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs by artists including Phoebe Killdeer and the Short Straws, Kasbah Rockers and College & Electric Youth has been released digitally earlier this week. Also opening wide is the stop-motion animated 3D film Frankenweenie directed by Tim Burton and featuring the voices of Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short and Winona Ryder. The film’s score is composed by Danny Elfman. Walt Disney Records has released two soundtracks, including an album featuring the composer’s score. Mario Grigorov Scoring Lee Daniels’ ‘The Paperboy’
Mario Grigorov is the composer of the thriller The Paperboy. The film reunites Grigorov with director Lee Daniels. They have previously collaborated on the 2009 indie hit Previous and 2005’s Shadowboxer. Lee’s third directorial feature stars Matthew McConaughey, Zak Efron, Nicole Kidman, John Cusack and Scott Glenn. The movie is based on the 1995 novel by Pete Dexter and centers around two brothers who team up to investigate a possible miscarriage of justice surrounding a death row inmate convicted of killing the local sheriff. Dexter has also written the film’s screenplay. Daniels is producing the independent movie alongside Hilary Shor (Children of Men). The Paperboy is currently in post-production. No word yet on when the film will be released.
