Spencer Hutchings (The Hating Game, Peace, Love & Misunderstanding, Then Came You, Why Stop Now, The Outcasts) has released a soundtrack album for the romantic comedy Which Brings Me to You. The album features the composer’s original score from the film and is now available to stream/download on Amazon and most other major digital music services. Which Brings Me to You is directed by Peter Hutchings and stars Lucy Hale, Nat Wolff, Britne Oldford, Alexander Hodge, Genevieve Angelson and John Gallagher, Jr.. The movie follows two romantic burnouts who – after a disastrous hookup in the coatroom at a wedding – decide to spend the next 24 hours together on the off chance that this fling might be the real thing.

Filmtrax/Atlantic Screen Music has released a new soundtrack EP for the romantic comedy The Hating Game. The 5-track EP features the film’s original score composed by Spencer Hutchings (Peace, Love & Misunderstanding, Why Stop Now, Then Came You, The Outcasts). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Republic Records has previously released a separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the movie The Hating Game is directed by Peter Hutchings and stars Lucy Hale, Austin Stowell, Yasha Jackson, Damon Dasunno, Sakina Jaffrey, Sean Cullen and Corbin Bernsen.

Opening in nationwide this weekend is the musical drama West Side Story directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Ansel Elgort, Rachel Zegler, Ariana DeBose, Mike Faist, Josh Andrés Rivera, David Alvarez, Corey Stoll, Brian d’Arcy James, Ana Isabelle and Rita Moreno. The film’s music was originally written for the stage musical of the same title by Leonard Bernstein (with lyrics by Stephen Sondheim) and has been adapted by David Newman (Anastasia, Ice Age, Serenity, The Flintstones). Gustavo Dudamel conducted the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonic. Hollywood Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs and score from the movie last week. Also opening wide is the sports drama National Champions directed by Ric Roman Waugh and starring Stephan James, J.K. Simmons, Alexander Ludwig, Tim Blake Nelson, Timothy Olyphant, Uzo Aduba, Lil Rel Howery, Jeffrey Donovan, Russell Wilson, Andrew Bachelor, Kristin Chenoweth and David Koechner. Jonathan Sanford (Teenage Bounty Hunters, Good on Paper, As We See It, Dare Me, Social Distance) has composed the film’s original music. The only movie opening nationwide this week is the action thriller Miss Bala directed by Catherine Hardwicke and starring Gina Rodriguez, Ismael Cruz Córdova and Anthony Mackie. The film’s original music is composed by Alex Heffes (The Last King of Scotland, Roots, Touching the Void, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom). Opening in limited release this week is the survival drama Arctic co-written and directed by Joe Penna and starring Mads Mikkelsen. Expected to top the weekend box office is the action film sequel The Expendables 2 directed by Simon West and starring Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Liam Hemsworth, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The film’s music is composed by Brian Tyler who previously scored the 2010 original film. Lionsgate Records has released a soundtrack album featuring Tyler’s music. Opening in most theaters is Dreamworks Animation’s Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted directed by Eric Darnell, Tom McGrath & Conrad Vernon and featuring a voice cast including Ben Stiller, David Schwimmer, Jada Pinkett Smith, Cedric the Entertainer, Andy Richter, Jessica Chastain, Bryan Cranston and Martin Short. Interscope Records has released a soundtrack album featuring selections from the film’s score composed by Hans Zimmer, as well as the songs featured in the movie by Peter Asher, Yolanda Be Cool and Katy Perry. Also opening wide is one of the most anticipated films of the year, Ridley Scott’s Prometheus starring Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green and Ben Foster. Marc Streitenfeld has composed the film’s score and Harry Gregson-Williams has provided additional music. Sundance 2012 Film Music Roundup (Part 4)

One of the best received films that premiered at the festival is the drama Smashed directed by James Ponsoldt (Off the Black). The film stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Aaron Paul as s a married couple whose bond is built on a mutual love of alcohol and whose relationship is put to the test when the wife decides to get sober. The cast also includes Octavia Spencer, Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally and Mary Kay Place. Ponsoldt co-wrote the screenplay with Susan Burke and Jennifer Cochis, Jonathan Schwartz, Andrea Sperling (Like Crazy) are producing. The film’s music is written by Andy Cabic and Eric D. Johnson. While the project marks Cabic’s feature scoring debut, Johnson has previously written the music for the Uma Thurman-starring romance Ceremony and co-scored last year’s indie comedy Our Idiot Brother starring Paul Rudd.
