Warner Classics has announced Howard Shore – A Piano Tribute, an album crafted by Dimitri Soudoplatoff featuring new arrangements of classic film scores by the Academy Award-winning composer performed by pianist Aurélien Pontier, joined by violinist Nemanja Radulovic, soprano Natalie Dessay, and other guests. Shore himself was directly involved in the production. Among the titles included are pieces from the composer’s scores from Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey & The Desolation of Smaug, Martin Scorsese’s Hugo & The Departed, David Cronenberg’s The Fly, Crash & Eastern Promises, David Fincher’s Seven & The Game, Tim Burton’s Ed Wood, among others. The album will be released (coinciding with Shore’s 80th birthday) digitally on October 16 and on CD a few weeks later and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Expanded and Remastered ‘Cop Land’ Soundtrack Album Announced
Quartet Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1997 crime drama Cop Land written and directed by James Mangold and starring Sylvester Stallone, Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta, Robert De Niro, Janeane Garofalo, Peter Berg, Robert Patrick, Michael Rapaport and Annabella Sciorra. The album features the expanded and newly remastered original score from the film composed and conducted by Academy Award winner Howard Shore (The Lord of the Rings, The Silence of the Lambs, The Aviator, Hugo, The Hobbit, The Departed, The Fly, Mrs. Doubtfire, Big, A History of Violence) and performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, including around 30 minutes of previously unreleased music. Also included are numerous alternate cues. The 2-CD set, which is limited to 1,000 copies, is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also listen to audio samples and find out more about the soundtrack.

Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the horror movie Sinners written and directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Omar Benson Miller, Jayme Lawson and Delroy Lindo. The film’s original score is composed by Ludwig Göransson (Oppenheimer, The Mandalorian, Black Panther, Creed, Tenet, Turning Red, Venom). Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today (click here for the full album details). Sony Masterworks has also released a separate album featuring the songs from the movie performed by Rod Wave, Buddy Guy, James Blake, Brittany Howard, Don Toliver, Rhiannon Giddens & others (click here for the full album details). Also opening wide is the romantic comedy The Wedding Banquet co-written and directed by Andrew Ahn and starring Bowen Yang, Lily Gladstone, Kelly Marie Tran, Han Gi-chan, Youn Yuh-jung and Joan Chen. Jay Wadley (I’m Thinking of Ending Things, Heart Eyes, Tell Me Lies, Franklin, Swan Song, Before, I Carry You with Me) has composed the film’s original score. No word on a soundtrack release. ‘The Shrouds’ Soundtrack Album Details
Howe Records will release the official soundtrack album for David Cronenberg’s body horror drama The Shrouds. Deutsche Grammophon has released Howard Shore: Anthology – The Paris Concerts, a new album featuring music by the Academy Award-winning composer recorded during Radio France’s 2023 Week-End Howard Shore performed by the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and conducted by Ludwig Wicki & Bastien Stil. Mike Schäperclaus conducts Le Balcon ensemble in the chamber works. Among the titles featured on the release are Shore’s scores from Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring & The Hobbit, David Cronenberg’s The Fly, Crash, Eastern Promises & Naked Lunch, Arnaud Desplechin’s Esther Khan and Tim Burton’s Ed Wood. The film is written and directed by Cronenberg and stars Vincent Cassel, Guy Pearce, Diane Kruger and Sandrine Holt. The movie follows an innovative businessman and grieving widower who builds a device to connect with the dead inside a burial shroud.
Howard Shore’s ‘Fire with Fire’ Score to Be Released
Paramount Music will release the first-ever soundtrack album for the 1986 romantic drama Fire with Fire directed by Duncan Gibbins and starring Virginia Madsen, Craig Sheffer, Kate Reid, Jon Polito, Kari Wuhrer, Tim Russ, Jean Smart and D.B. Sweeney. The album features the film’s original score composed by Academy Award winner Howard Shore (The Lord of the Rings, The Aviator, The Silence of the Lambs, Hugo, The Hobbit, The Departed). Also included is James House’s song I’m in It for Love. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, June 2 and will be available to stream/download on Apple Music/iTunes and most other major digital music services.

The thriller based on the novel by Louis Bayard is set in West Point, 1830 and follows a detective who is hired to investigate the gruesome murder of a cadet and enlists one of their own to help unravel the case – a young man the world would come to know as Edgar Allan Poe.
