Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the horror movie Sinners written and directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Omar Benson Miller, Jayme Lawson and Delroy Lindo. The film’s original score is composed by Ludwig Göransson (Oppenheimer, The Mandalorian, Black Panther, CreedTenet, Turning Red, Venom). Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today (click here for the full album details). Also opening wide is the romantic comedy The Wedding Banquet co-written and directed by Andrew Ahn and starring Bowen Yang, Lily Gladstone, Kelly Marie Tran, Han Gi-chan, Youn Yuh-jung and Joan Chen. Jay Wadley (I’m Thinking of Ending Things, Heart Eyes, Tell Me Lies, FranklinSwan Song, BeforeI Carry You with Me) has composed the film’s original score. No word on a soundtrack release. Also opening nationwide is the animated feature Sneaks directed by Rob Edwards and starring Anthony Mackie, Martin Lawrence, Chloe Bailey, Laurence Fishburne, Mustard, Roddy Ricch, Macy Gray, Ella Mai,Swae Lee, Quavo and Chris Paul. The film’s original score is composed by rapper/music producer Terrace Martin who has made his feature scoring debut on the project. Mustard also serves as the project’s executive music producer. BMG Rights Management & 10 Summers Records have released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film today. Opening in select theaters today before expanding nationwide next Friday, April 25 is the fantasy adventure The Legend of Ochi written and directed by Isaiah Saxon and starring Helena Zengel, Emily Watson, Finn Wolfhard and Willem Dafoe. David Longstreth (of the indie rock band Dirty Projectors) (Love Me) has composed the film’s original music. A24 Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the musician’s score, as well as a song by Dirty Projectors will be released next Friday. Also opening in Los Angeles and New York today before expanding more markets next Friday is the body horror drama The Shrouds written and directed by David Cronenberg and starring Vincent Cassel, Diane Kruger, Guy Pearce and Sandrine Holt. The film’s original music is composed by Howard Shore (The Lord of the RingsThe Silence of the Lambs, The Hobbit, HugoThe Aviator, The DepartedThe Fly, Mrs. Doubtfire, A History of Violence). Howe Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Opening in around 500 U.S. theaters is the Norwegian horror comedy The Ugly Stepsister written and directed by Emilie Blichfeldt and starring Lea Myren, Thea Sofie Loch Næss, Flo Fagerli, Ane Dahl Torp, Isac Calmroth and Malte Gårdinge. John Erik Kaada (1001 Grams, Diving Into the Unknown, Angels Are Made of Light) and Norwegian songwriter Vilde Tuv have composed the film’s original music. Poesy has released an EP featuring Tuv’s themes last month. Also opening in select U.S. theaters is the French biographical drama The President’s Wife ( Bernadette) directed by Léa Domenach and starring Catherine Deneuve, Denis Podalydès, Sara Giraudeau, Michel Vuillermoz, Laurent Stocker, Lionel Abelanski and François Vincentelli. The film’s original music is composed by Anne-Sophie Versnaeyen (La Belle EpoqueMy Cousin, Mascarade, OSS 117: Red Alert in Black AfricaI Still Hide to Smoke). Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score back in 2023 when the movie opened in France.
