Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the comedy sequel The Devil Wears Prada 2 directed by David Frankel and starring Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Kenneth Branagh, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Simone Ashley and B.J. Novak. The film’s original score is composed by Theodore Shapiro (Severance, Ghostbusters, The Housemaid, Tropic Thunder, Bombshell, Spy, A Simple Favor, Dodgeball). Hollywood Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music today and Interscope Records has released a separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the movie, including Lady Gaga’s & Doechii’s Runway, on the same day. Also opening wide is the supernatural horror movie Hokum written and directed by Damian McCarthy and starring Adam Scott, Peter Coonan, Florence Ordesh, David Wilmot, Will O’Connell and Michael Patri. Joseph Bishara (The Conjuring, Insidious, Malignant, The Curse of La Llorona, Annabelle, Dark Skies, Tarot, The Unholy) has composed the film’s original music. Void Recordings has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Composer Grégoire Hetzel (Incendies, Summertime, The Midwife, The Innocent) is reuniting with director Arnaud Desplechin (Esther Khan, Jimmy P.) on the upcoming French romantic drama Two Pianos (Deux Pianos). The film starring François Civil, Nadia Tereszkiewicz, Charlotte Rampling & Hippolyte Girardot follows a pianist who returns to France after a long exile and reunites with his mentor to prepare a concert, when he encounters a child who looks just like him. Desplechin also co-wrote the screenplay with Kamen Velkovsky.

Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the action comedy Nobody 2 directed by Timo Tjahjanto and starring Bob Odenkirk, Connie Nielsen, John Ortiz, Sharon Stone, RZA, Christopher Lloyd and Colin Hanks. The film’s original music is composed by Dominic Lewis (Bullet Train, The Man in the High Castle, The Fall Guy, Peter Rabbit, Karate Kid: Legends, Your Friends & Neighbors, Money Monster, Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween, Dope Thief, Violent Night). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs performed by José James, Des Rocs & Lewis himself today. Opening semi-wide in a couple of hundred theaters is the crime thriller Americana written and directed by Tony Tost and stars Sydney Sweeney, Paul Walter Hauser, Halsey, Eric Dane, Zahn McClarnon, Simon Rex, Toby Huss, Gavin Maddox Bergman, Derek Hinkey and Harriet Sansom Harris. David Fleming (Superman, The Last of Us, Damsel, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Hillbilly Elegy, Blue Planet II, The Unforgivable) has composed the film’s original score. A soundtrack album is expected to be released in the coming weeks by Lakeshore Records. The 6-track EP features the film’s original music composed by Grégoire Hetzel (Ismael’s Ghosts, Incendies, Summertime, My Golden Days, The Midwife, Oh, Mercy!) and performed by soloists including Petteri livonen, Daniel Garlitsky, Beatrice Muthelet, Cyrille Lacrouts, Nina Tonji & Tatiana Uhde. Also included is Garlitsky’s cover of Nirvana’s My Girl. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Also listen to Hetzel’s first track below. The Musicians is written and directed by Grégory Magne and stars Valérie Donzelli, Frédéric Pierrot, Mathieu Spinosi, Garlitsky, Emma Ravier and Marie Vialle. The movie follows a woman who brings together four Stradivarius for a unique concert, but when the four virtuosos recruited for the occasion are incapable of playing together, she decides to go and find the only person who can still save the event: the composer of the score.

Opening semi-wide in around 800 theaters is the comedy drama Moving On written and directed by Paul Weitz and starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Malcolm McDowell and Richard Roundtree. Amanda Jones (Naomi, Super/Natural, Twenties, Good Trouble, Adventure Time: Distant Lands, Somebody Somewhere) has composed the film’s original score. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows two estranged friends who reunite to seek revenge on the petulant widower of their recently deceased best friend, premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival and is being released by Roadside Attractions.
