Hans Zimmer has composed a new theme for ABC World News. It was the first time the music has been updated since the year 2000. The program anchored by Diane Sawyer on weekdays and by David Muir on weekends also debuted a new logo, graphics package in addition to the updated music this week. EMI Music will release the official soundtrack album for the drama Chasing Mavericks. The album includes the original song I Need An Energy by Scottish born artist, Greg Holden. Also features are several alternative rock tracks from the 90s by artists including Mazzy Star, The Butthole Surfers, Sponge, Dinosaur Jr., The Lemonheads and Matthew Sweet. The alternative rock band thenewno2 is writing the music for the upcoming fantasy romance Beautiful Creatures. The film is directed by Richard LaGravenese and stars Alden Ehrenreich and Alice Englert as two star-crossed lovers who uncover dark secrets about their respective families, their history and their town. Jeremy Irons, Viola Davis, Emmy Rossum, Thomas Mann and Emma Thompson are co-starring in the film. LaGravenese has also written the screenplay based on the first novel in the best-selling series by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. Erwin Stoff (Water for Elephants) is producing the Alcon Entertainment production with Andrew A. Kosove & Broderick Johnson (The Blind Side), Molly Mickler Smith (Something Borrowed) and David Valdes (The Green Mile). The movie marks the first feature scoring assignment of thenewno2. The band’s current members include Jonathan Sadoff who has scored several films over the last couple of years, including this year’s comedy drama Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (co-scored with Rob Simonsen). The details of the world premiere official soundtrack release for Zack Snyder’s remake of the zombie horror film Dawn of the Dead have been revealed. The album includes the film’s original score by composer Tyler Bates (300, Watchmen). The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 16, 2012 by Milan Records. The physical release is scheduled to come out the following week and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips will be added to this article soon. Dawn of the Dead starring stars Sarah Polley, Ving Rhames and Jake Weber marked the directorial feature debut of Snyder (Man of Steel). Lakeshore Records has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the thriller Killing Them Softly. The album features the film’s songs by artists including Carl Stone, The Velvet Underground, James Wilsey, Nico, Kitty Lester and The Wreckery. Also included is one track by composer Marc Streitenfeld who is credited as providing piano pieces and musical ambiances. The album features the film’s original music composed by Christopher Young (Hellraiser, SpiderMan 3, The Shipping News). Adele confirmed today that she has co-written and performed the theme song for the latest James Bond film Skyfall. The song is written by the English singer/songwriter and Paul Hepworth (Rolling in the Deep) and was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London. Hepworth is also credited as the arranger with J.A.C. Redford on the sheet music of the song that Adele posted on Twitter this morning (see image attached after the jump). Redford is best known as a composer for films and TV shows including St. Elsewhere and as an orchestrator for such composers as James Horner and Skyfall‘s composer Thomas Newman. The song will be available on Adele’s official site on Friday. The single is also available for pre-order on iTunes. Mars & Avril is written and directed by French-Canadian artist and Cirque du Soleil alumnus Martin Villeneuve based on his own graphic novels and stars Caroline Dhavernas, Paul Ahmarani, Robert Lepage and Jacques Languirand.
