Philippe Rombi (Swimming Pool, War of the Buttons, Potiche, Asterix: The Secret of the Magic Potion, In the House, Children of the Resistance, Angel) has composed the original music for the upcoming French drama Women on Trial (L’Affaire Marie-Claire). The film is written and directed by Lauriane Escaffre & Yvo Muller (Maria Into Life) and stars Charlotte Gainsbourg, Saül Benchetrit, Cecile de France, Michele Chevalier and Gregory Gadebois. The movie centers on the 1972 landmark trial of 16-year-old Marie-Claire Chevalier who was prosecuted for having an illegal abortion with the help of her mother and two other defendants that paved the way for France to later decriminalize the procedure. Foucauld Barré (Sweet Little Things, Roxane) and Nicolas Duval Adassovsky (The Intouchables, The Death of Stalin) are producing the project. Women on Trial is premiering today at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival and is set to be released in French theaters on November 4, 2026.
