M83 have announced that they have composed the music for the upcoming French thriller Knife + Heart (Un couteau dans le coeur). The film is directed by Yann Gonzalez and stars Vanessa Paradis, Kate Moran and Nicolas Maury. The movie is set in 1970s Paris and follows a porn producer who decides to make a more ambitious film. Charles Gillibert (On the Road, Clouds of Sils Maria, Mustang) is producing the project. A soundtrack album has been released for the crime thriller American Violence. The album features the film’s original music composed by Andrew Joslyn (Hickok). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. American Violence is directed by Timothy Woodward Jr. and stars Bruce Dern, Denise Richards, Kaiwi Lyman-Mersereau, Columbus Short, Emma Rigby, Rob Gronkowski, Johnny Messner, Patrick Kilpatrick, Nick Chinlund and Michael Paré. Jocelyn Pook (Eyes Wide Shut, The Merchant of Venice) won her first BAFTA TV Craft Award today for her music for the Drama Republic/BBC Two movie King Charles III written by Mike Bartlett, directed by Rupert Goold and starring Tim Pigott-Smith. Ben Onono (Paranoid, Half a Yellow Sun, Trust Me) is scoring the new Netflix original series Safe. The show is created by Harlan Coben and written by Danny Brocklehurst (Ordinary Lies, The Driver, Shameless) and stars Michael C. Hall, Amanda Abbington, Marc Warren, Hannah Arterton, Audrey Fleurot and Nigel Lindsay. Premiering tonight is the National Geographic television special Symphony for Our World. Bleeding Fingers Music’s Austin Fray & Andrew Christie have composed the project’s original music and have also collaborated with the rock band X Ambassadors on several tracks. Premiering on Thursday, April 26, is the third season of the ABC drama Quantico created by Joshua Safran and starring Priyanka Chopra, Jake McLaughlin, Johanna Braddy, Russell Tovey, Alan Powell, Marlee Matlin and Blair Underwood. Clinton Shorter (District 9Contraband2 Guns, The Expanse, Pompeii, Colony) is composing the original music of the third season and follows Joel J. It was announced today that Hans Zimmer (The Dark KnightGladiator, The Lion King, The Da Vinci Code, Inception, The Thin Red Line) is the recipient of this year’s Max Steiner Film Music Achievement Award, which will be presented at the annual Hollywood in Vienna Concert Gala at Vienna Concert Hall on October 19, 2018. The composer will be accepting the award in person. The album features the film’s original music composed by Leo Sujatovich (La Antena, Sleepwalker). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. The Desert Bride is written and directed by Cecilia Atán & Valeria Pivato and stars Paulina Garcia and Claudio Rissi. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the comedy I Feel Pretty directed by Abby Kohn & Marc Silverstein and starring Amy Schumer, Michelle Williams, Rory Scovel, Emily Ratajkowski, Aidy Bryant, Busy Phillips and Tom Hopper. The film’s original music is composed by Michael Andrews (Bridesmaids, NeighborsFunny People). Sony Masterworks has released a soundtrack album featuring three tracks from the composer’s score, as well as songs by Maroon 5, Meghan Trainor, Santigold & others.
