Premiering on Tuesday, September 1, is the Paramount+ original series The Varnell Hill Show executive produced by Martin Lawrence and Bentley Kyle Evans and starring Tommy Davidson (who reprises his role of the title character first introduced in the classic sitcom Martin), Kym Whitley, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Emmanuel Hudson, Nick Cafero and Chris Williams. The show’s original music is composed by Matthew Head (P-Valley, Tom Swift, Boomerang, She the People, The Family Business, Robin Roberts Presents: Mahalia). The comedy, which is set behind the scenes of a long-running late-night talk show and follows Varnell as he fights to stay relevant in a rapidly changing entertainment landscape, will be available to stream exclusively on Paramount+.

Premiering on Wednesday, September 2, is the British action thriller The Runner directed by Kevin Macdonald and starring Gal Gadot, Damian Lewis, Rory Wilmot and Alfred Enoch. Tom Hodge (McMafia, The Mauritianian, The Ipcress File, Cleaner, High & Low: John Galliano, Name Me Lawand, Klitschko: More Than a Fight, Je Suis Karl) has composed the film’s original music. CBS Studios will release a soundtrack album for the CW drama Tom Swift. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Matthew Head (P-Valley, Boomerang, Robin Roberts Presents: Mahalia, The Family Business). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, April 22 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Tom Swift is developed by Melinda Hsu Taylor, Noga Landau & Cameron Johnson based on the book series by Victor Appleton and stars Tian Richards, Ashleigh Murray, Marquise Vilsón, April Parker Jones, Albert Mwangi and LeVar Burton.

The show’s original music is composed by Matthew Head (P-Valley, Boomerang, The Family Business). The series, which is inspired by the Tom Swift book series and revolves around the title character who was introduced in the network’s Nancy Drew, will air every Tuesday on the CW.

Premiering in the U.S. on Thursday, June 2, is the British drama This Is Going to Hurt created by Adam Kay based on his book of the same name and starring Ben Whishaw, Hannah Onslow, Ambika Mod, Michele Austin, Rosie Akerman and Andreea Paduraru. JARV IS…, led by Jarvis Cocker (of Pulp), have composed the film’s original music. Rough Trade Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the artist’s score and songs earlier this year. ABKCO Records will release a soundtrack album for the Lifetime original movie Robin Roberts Presents: Mahalia. The album features the original score from the film composed by Matthew Head (P-Valley, Boomerang, The Family Business). Also included are the songs from the drama performed by lead actress Danielle Brooks. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, April 2 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Robin Roberts Presents: Mahalia is directed by Kenny Leon, executive produced by Robin Roberts & Linda Berman and stars Brooks in the title role, alongside Jason Dirden, Joaquina Kalukango, Olivia Washington, Kenny Leon and Rob Demery. The movie tells the story of Mahalia Jackson, known as the Queen of Gospel and the mentor and inspiration behind Aretha Franklin, from her early life growing up in brutal poverty in New Orleans to becoming a platinum-selling artist.
