Back Lot Music has released the second track from the soundtrack for DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming feature Forgotten Island. Available to stream/download now on all major digital music services is the original song BRB written by Ryan Tedder & H.E.R. and performed by H.E.R. & Liza Soberano (who star in the lead roles of Jo & Raissa). Also listen to the track after the jump. The label has previously released BINI’s original song A Parallel World as a digital single in July and will release a full soundtrack album on September 18. Forgotten Island is written and directed by Joel Crawford & Januel Mercado and also features the voices of Dave Franco, Jenny Slate, Dolly de Leon, Jo Koy, Manny Jacinto, Ronny Chieng and Lea Salonga.

H.E.R.’s ‘Dance to the Music’ Cover from ‘Minions: The Rise of Gru’ Released
Decca Records has released the cover version of Sly and the Family Stone’s 1967 anthem Dance to the Music from the animated feature Minions: The Rise of Gru. The track produced by Jack Antonoff (who serves as the executive producer of the film’s soundtrack) and performed by Academy Award winner H.E.R. is now available to stream/download on all major digital music platforms, including Amazon. H.E.R.’s Original Song ‘Change’ from Netflix’s ‘We The People’ Released
MBK Entertainment and RCA Records have released the first song from the Netflix animated short-form series We the People. Available to stream/download now on all major digital music platforms (including Amazon) is the original song Change performed by H.E.R. (who received her first Academy Award earlier this year for the song Fight for You from Judas and the Black Messiah) from the episode Active Citizenship. Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross & Jon Batiste Win Academy Award for ‘Soul’
Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and Jon Batiste were honored with the Academy Award for their score for Pixar’s Soul at tonight’s 93rd Oscar ceremony. Reznor & Ross have previously received their first Oscar for their music for 2010’s The Social Network and were also nominated this year for their music for David Fincher’s Mank. The composers previously received the Golden Globe, Critic’ Choice Award and BAFTA Award for their work on the animated movie. Check out their acceptance speech after the jump. The other nominated composers in the Original Score category were Emile Mosseri (Minari), James Newton Howard (News of the World) and Terence Blanchard (Da 5 Bloods).

Six Course Music Group/RCA Records have released the original song Fight for You from the biographical drama Judas and the Black Messsiah. The track, which received a Golden Globe nomination earlier this year in the Original Song category, is performed by H.E.R. and written by herself, Dernst ‘D’Mile’ Emile II and Tiara Thomas. The song is now available to stream/download as a digital single here and can also be checked out after the jump. Judas and the Black Messiah is directed by Shaka King and stars Daniel Kaluuya, LaKeith Stanfield, Jesse Plemons, Ashton Sanders, Dominique Fishback and Martin Sheen.
‘Judas and the Black Messiah’ to Feature Original Song ‘Fight for You’ by H.E.R.
H.E.R. has recorded an original song for the upcoming biographical drama Judas and the Black Messiah. The track, entitled Fight for You, is co-written by herself, Dernst ‘D’Mile’ Emile II & Tiara Thomas and will be featured in the movie directed by Shaka King and starring Daniel Kaluuya, LaKeith Stanfield, Jesse Plemons, Dominique Fishback, Ashton Sanders and Martin Sheen. Jazz trombonist Craig Harris and Mark Isham (Crash, Once Upon a Time, Miracle, A River Runs Through It) have teamed up to compose the original score for the film, which tells the story of Chairman Fred Hampton who was 21 years old when he was assassinated by the FBI, who coerced a petty criminal named William O’Neal to help them silence him and the Black Panther Party.
Marcus Miller Scoring Reginald Hudlin’s Disney+ Movie ‘Safety’
Marcus Miller (Everybody Hates Chris, About Last Night, I Think I Love My Wife) has composed the original score for the upcoming Disney+ original movie Safety. The film is directed by Reginald Hudlin and stars Jay Reeves, Thaddeus J. Mixson, Corinne Foxx, Matthew Glave,Hunter Sansone, Amanda Warren, Miles Burris, Isaac Bell, Elijah Bell and James Badge Dale. The drama tells the true story of former Clemson University football safety Ray McElrathbey, a young man facing a series of challenging circumstances, whose dedication and persistence help him to triumph over repeated adversities. Nick Santora (Scorpion, The Fugitive) wrote the screenplay.
H.E.R.’s Cover of Aretha Franklin’s ‘Think’ from ‘What Men Want’ Released
RCA Records and MBK Entertainment have released H.E.R.‘s new cover version of Aretha Franklin’s Think from the comedy What Men Want. The track, originally written by Franklin & Ted White, is produced by Ryan Tedder and Zach Skelton. The song is now available to download on Amazon. Also listen to the full track after the jump. As previously reported, a soundtrack album featuring the film’s score composed by Brian Tyler is being released today by Lakeshore Records. What Men Want directed by Adam Shankman and starring Taraji P. Henson, Aldis Hodge, Richard Roundtree, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Tracy Morgan is being released in theaters nationwide this weekend by Paramount Pictures.
