Composer Michael Andrews (Donnie Darko, Bridesmaids, Freaks & Geeks, Daddy’s Home, Me and You and Everyone We Know, Bad Teacher, Funny People) is reuniting with director Morgan Neville (Won’t You Be My Neighbor, 20 Feet from Stardom) on the upcoming animated documentary Piece by Piece. The movie marks Neville’s animated feature debut and tells the life story of singer and producer Pharrell Williams through LEGO pieces featuring the voices of Williams himself, Gwen Stefani, Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z, Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg and Pusha T.

Premiering in the U.S. today is the French-Canadian limited series The Night Logan Woke Up written and directed by Xavier Nolan and starring Julie Le Breton, Anne Dorval, Jasmine Lemée, Patrick Hivon and Pier-Gabriel Lajoie. The show’s original music is composed by Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, The Dark Knight, Dune, Gladiator) and David Fleming (The Last of Us, Hillbilly Elegy). Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score earlier this year. Also making its U.S. debut today is the Italian/French TV series Django created by Leonardo Fasoli & Maddalena Ravagli and starring Matthias Schoenaerts, Nicholas Pinnock, Lisa Vicari and Noomi Rapace. Mokadelic (Gomorrah, Romulus, The Immortal) have composed the show’s original music. Radiocattleya has released a soundtrack featuring the psychedelic post-rock collective’s score earlier this year when the series premiered overseas on Sky. Michael Andrews Scoring Nahnatchka Khan’s ‘Totally Killer’
Composer Michael Andrews (Donnie Darko, Freaks & Geeks, Bridesmaids, Bad Teacher, Daddy’s Home, Me and You and Everyone We Know) is reuniting with director Nahnatchka Khan (Fresh Off the Boat, Young Rock) on the upcoming slasher comedy Totally Killer. The film starring Kiernan Shipka, Olivia Holt, Julie Bowen, Randall Park, Charlie Gillespie, Lochlyn Munro & Liana Liberato is set 35 years after the murder of three teens, when the infamous “Sweet Sixteen Killer“ returns on Halloween night to claim a fourth victim. The movie follows a 17-year-old girl who ignores her who comes face-to-face with the masked maniac and accidentally time-travels to 1987, the year of the original killings.

Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is Disney’s live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid directed by Rob Marshall and starring Halle Bailey, Jonah Hauer-King, Melissa McCarthy, Javier Bardem, Jacob Tremblay, Daveed Diggs and Awkwafina. The film’s original score is composed by Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Enchanted) and the movie’s songs are written by Menken, Howard Ashman and Lin-Manuel Miranda. Walt Disney Records has released two soundtrack albums: a regular edition featuring all the songs and five tracks from Menken’s score (click here for the full details) and a deluxe edition featuring the songs and Menken’s full score (click here for more information).
Also opening wide is the action comedy The Machine directed by Peter Atencio and starring Bert Kreischer, Mark Hamill, Stephanie Kurtzuba, Jimmy Tatro, Jess Gabor and Iva Babić. Joseph Trapanese (The Witcher, Oblivion, Shadow and Bone, The Greatest Showman, Straight Outta Compton) has composed the film’s original music. The show’s original music is composed by Fernando Velazquez (The Orphanage, A Monster Calls, The Impossible, Mama, Devil, Crimson Peak, Hercules). Michael Andrews (Donnie Darko, Bad Teacher, Daddy’s Home, Bridesmaids, Me and You and Everyone We Know) is scoring the new Apple TV+ original series Platonic. The show is created by Nick Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Bros) and Francesca Delbanco and stars Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, Luke Macfarlane, Tre Hale, Andrew Lopez and Carla Gallo. The comedy follows a platonic pair of former best friends approaching midlife who reconnect after a long rift and whose friendship becomes all consuming.

Michael Andrews (Donnie Darko, Bridesmaids, Me and You and Everyone We Know, Neighbors, Daddy’s Home) has composed the original score for the upcoming comedy drama You Hurt My Feelings. The film is written and directed by Nicole Holofcener (Enough Said, Friends with Money) and stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Tobias Menzies, Owen Teague, Michaela Watkins and Arian Moayed. The movie revolves around a novelist who longstanding marriage is suddenly upended when she overhears her husband giving his honest reaction to her latest book.

Michael Andrews Scoring Judd Apatow’s ‘The Bubble’
Composer Michael Andrews (Donnie Darko, Neighbors, Daddy’s Home, Me and You and Everyone We Know, Bad Teacher, Instant Family) is reuniting with director Judd Apatow (The 40-Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Trainwreck) on the upcoming Netflix original film The Bubble. The movie’s ensemble cast includes Karen Gillan, Iris Apatow, Fred Armisen, Maria Bakalova, Keegan-Michael Key, David Duchovny, Leslie Mann, Peter Serafinowicz and Pedro Pascal. Andrew Bird (Norman, Outside In) has also contributed original music to the comedy, which revolves around a group of actors and actresses stuck inside a pandemic bubble at a hotel attempting to complete a film.
