Lucky Dog has released a soundtrack album for the French drama Both Sides of the Blade (Avec amour et acharnement). The album features the film’s original music composed by Tindersticks (Nenette and Boni, Stars at Noon, Bastards). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and most other digital music services. Check back the band’s theme from the film after the jump. Their title song based on the theme has previously been released on the band’s record PAST IMPERFECT last year. Both Sides of the Blade is co-written and directed by Claire Denis and stars Juliette Binoche, Vincent Lindon, Grégoire Colin, Mati Diop, Issa Perica and Bulle Ogier. The movie revolves around a woman whose life spirals out of control when she becomes involved in a passionate love triangle.

Weekly Film Music Roundup (October 14, 2022)
Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend while also premiering on Peacock today is the slasher sequel Halloween Ends directed by David Gordon Green and starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Andi Matichak, Rohan Campbell, Kyle Richards and James Jude Courtney. The film’s original music is composed by John Carpenter, Cody Carpenter & Daniel Davies (Firestarter) who previously scored 2018’s Halloween and last year’s Halloween Kills. Sacred Bones Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score today. Opening in select theaters today before expanding nationwide over the next couple of weeks is the biographical drama Till directed by Chinonye Chukwu and starring Danielle Deadwyler, Jalyn Hall, Whoopi Goldberg, Jayme Lawson, Frankie Faison, Tosin Cole and Haley Bennett. Abel Korzeniowski (Penny Dreadful, A Single Man, Nocturnal Animals, The Nun, The Courier) has composed the film’s original score. ‘Stars at Noon’ Soundtrack Album Details
Lucky Dog & City Slang will release a soundtrack album for Claire Denis’ romantic thriller Stars at Noon. The album features the film’s original music composed by the alternative rock band Tindersticks who previously collaborated with Denis on such movies as Nenette and Boni, Bastards, High Life and this year’s Both Sides of the Blade. The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 14 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The title song is already available to stream now and can be checked out after the jump. Stars at Noon is co-written and directed by Denis and stars Margaret Qualley, Joe Alwyn, Danny Ramirez, Benny Safdie and John C. Reilly. The movie based Denis Johnson’s novel of the same name is set in 1984 during the Nicaraguan Revolution and follows a mysterious English businessman and a headstrong American journalist who strike up a passionate romance and become embroiled in a dangerous labyrinth of lies and conspiracies.

Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder directed by Taika Waititi and starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, Christian Bale and Russell Crowe. Michael Giacchino (Up, The Batman, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange, Jurassic World, Lost) has composed the themes and has co-scored the movie with Nami Melumad (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds & Prodigy, An American Pickle). Hollywood Records/Marvel Music have released a soundtrack featuring the composers’ score. Claire Denis’ ‘Both Sides of the Blade’ to Feature Original Song & Score by Tindersticks
Tindersticks are reteaming with director Claire Denis on the upcoming French drama Both Sides of the Blade (Avec amour et acharnement). The rock band has contributed both the original score and an original song, which will be released as part of the album PAST IMPERFECT: The best of tindersticks ’92 – ’21, which will be released on March 25 (visit Amazon to pre-order the CD and vinyl version and check out the official music video below). The film starring Juliette Binoche, Vincent Lindon, Grégoire Colin, Issa Perica, Bulle Ogier and Mati Diop revolves around a woman who caught between two men, her long-time partner and his best friend, her former lover.
Soundtrack Album for Claire Denis’ ‘High Life’ Announced
Milan Records will release the official soundtrack album for Claire Denis’ sci-fi drama High Life. The album features the film’s original music composed by Stuart A. Staples (White Material, Bastards). Also included is the original song Willow written by Staples and performed by Tindersticks feat. lead actor Robert Pattinson, which is already to download as a digital single on Amazon. Also listen to the full track after the jump. The full soundtrack album is set to be released digitally on April 5 and physically the following week and is now available for pre-order here. High Life is co-written and directed by Denis and stars Robert Pattinson, Juliette Binoche, Mia Goth and André Benjamin as as a group of criminals sent into deep space.

Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the comedy Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa directed by Jeff Tremaine and starring Johnny Knoxville who punks strangers while in character as senior citizen Irving Zisman. The film’s original musis is composed by Sam Spiegel whose music has previously been featured in some of the other Jackass features and Koool G Murder who is the brother of the film’s co-writer and producer Spike Jonze. Also opening wide is the thriller The Counselor directed by Ridley Scott, written by Cormac McCarthy and starring. Michael Fassbender, Penélope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Javier Bardem and Brad Pitt. Daniel Pemberton (The Awakening) has composed the film’s original score. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music earlier this week. Soundtrack for Claire Denis’ ‘Bastards’ Announced
Naïve Records will release a soundtrack album for Claire Denis’ French thriller Bastards (Les salauds). The album features the film’s original music composed by the Tindersticks. The British rock band has previously collaborated with the director on a number of projects. The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 3, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Bastards marks Denis’ follow-up to the critically acclaimed 2010 film White Material and stars Vincent Lindon, Chiara Mastroianni, Julie Bataille, Michel Subor, Lola Creton and Alex Descas. The movie premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and will be released in France on August 7, 2013. No word yet on a domestic distribution deal.
