Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder directed by Taika Waititi and starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, Christian Bale and Russell Crowe. Michael Giacchino (Up, The Batman, Spider-Man: No Way HomeDoctor Strange, Jurassic WorldLost) has composed the themes and has co-scored the movie with Nami Melumad (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds & ProdigyAn American Pickle). Hollywood Records/Marvel Music have released a soundtrack featuring the composers’ score. Opening in select U.S. theaters is the French drama Both Sides of the Blade (Avec amour et acharnement) co-written and directed by Claire Denis and starring Juliette Binoche, Vincent Lindon, Grégoire Colin, Bulle Ogier, Issa Perica and Mati Diop. The film’s original music composed by Tindersticks (High LifeWhite MaterialBastards). No word on a soundtrack release. Also opening in select theaters is the documentary Fire of Love directed by Sara Dosa about Katia and Maurice Krafft, the French volcanologist couple who roamed the planet, chasing eruptions and documenting their discoveries for two decades. Nicolas Godin (A Very Secret Service, Taj Mahal) has composed the film’s original music. Dan Romer (Luca, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Maniac, Station Eleven) is credited with having contributed additional themes. No soundtrack album has been announced. The movie premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is being released by Neon and National Geographic Films.

Opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the documentary Dreaming Walls: Inside the Chelsea Hotel directed by Amélie van Elmbt & Maya Duverdier about the storied halls of the legendary Chelsea Hotel as it undergoes a long upmarket renovation. The film’s original music is composed by Michael Andrews (Donnie Darko, Bridesmaids, Freaks & Geeks, The Big Sick, Funny People, Daddy’s Home). No soundtrack album has been released. The movie premiered at this year’s Berlin Film Festival and is being distributed by Magnolia Pictures.

Already playing in a single theater since this past Wednesday is the romantic comedy drama Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between directed by Michael Lewen and starring Talia Ryder, Jordan Fisher, Nico Hiraga, Ayo Edebiri and Jennifer Robertson. Mike Tuccillo (RamyLove LifeHomeroomShot in the Dark) has composed the film’s original score. Fisher has also contributed an original song, which was released earlier this week by Netflix Music.
