Opening in theaters nationwide is the psychological thriller Speak No Evil directed by James Watkins and starring James McAvoy, Mackenzie Davis, Scoot McNairy, Alix West Lefler, Aisling Franciosi and Daniel Hough. The film’s original music is composed by Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans (Ozark, Enemy, The Outsider, Fear the Walking Dead, The Devil All the Time, The Staircase, The White Tiger, Boy Erased, Tokyo Vice). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score today. Check out our previous article for the full album details and to learn more about the Blumhouse production, which is being released by Universal Pictures.

Also opening wide today is the action comedy The Killer’s Game directed by JJ Perry and starring Dave Bautista, Sofia Boutella, Scott Adkins, Pom Klementieff, Terry Crews and Ben Kingsley. Roque Banos (Don’t Breathe, In the Heart of the Sea, Evil Dead, Sexy Beast, The Machinist, The Commuter, The Girl in the Spider’s Web) has composed the film’s original music. ‘Uglies’ Soundtrack Album Details

Netflix Music will release a soundtrack album for the streamer’s original film Uglies. The album features the movie’s original music composed by Edward Shearmur (Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Escape from Dannemora, Charlie’s Angels, Johnny English, The Count of Monte Cristo, Cruel Intentions, Reign of Fire). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, September 6 and will be available to stream/download on all major digital music platforms, including Amazon. Also listen to the composer’s title track below. Uglies is directed by McG and stars Joey King, Keith Powers, Brianne Tju, Chase Stokes, Charmin Lee, Jan Luis and Laverne Cox. The sci-fi thriller based on Scott Westerfeld’s novel of the same title is set in a futuristic dystopia with enforced beauty standards and centers on a teenager awaiting mandatory cosmetic surgery who embarks on a journey to find her missing friend.

Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the sci-fi horror thriller Afraid written and directed by Chris Weitz and starring John Cho, Katherine Waterston, Havana Rose Liu,Lukita Maxwell, David Dastmalchian and Keith Carradine. The film’s original score is composed by Alex Weston (The Farewell, Expats, Wander Darkly, The Adults, The Novice, Goodnight Mommy) who also co-wrote the original song I Love You (with Weitz) for the project. Madison Gate Records will release a soundtrack album according to the movie’s end credits, but no announcement has been made yet. Also opening wide is the biographical drama Reagan directed by Sean McNamara and starring Dennis Quaid, Penelope Ann Miller, Jon Voight, Kevin Dillon, Olek Krupa, David Henrie, Mena Suvari, Xander Berkely, C. Thomas Howell, Trevor Donovan, Robert Davi, Kevin Sorbo Lesley-Anne Down and Jennifer O’Neill. John Coda (Bratz, The King’s Daughter, Hoovey, Cats & Dogs 3: Paws Unite) has composed the film’s original score. No word on a score release. Opening in theaters nationwide today is the horror thriller Separation directed by William Brent Bell and starring Rupert Friend, Brian Cox, Mamie Gummer, Madeline Brewer, Eric T. Miller, Violet McGraw and Simon Quarterman. The film’s original music is composed by Brett Detar (Brahms: The Boy II, The Devil Inside, Wer). MovieScore Media has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Opening semi-wide in a couple of hundred theaters before coming out on VOD on May 21 is the drama Four Good Days directed by Rodrigo García and starring Mila Kunis, Glenn Close and Stephen Root. Edward Shearmur (Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Escape at Dannemora, Cruel Intentions, Charlie’s Angels, Johnny English) has composed the film’s original score. No word on a score release. Expanded ‘Species II’ Soundtrack Album Announced

Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1998 sci-fi horror thriller Species II directed by Peter Medak and starring Natasha Henstridge, Michael Madsen, Marg Helgenberger, Mykelti Williamson, George Dzundza, James Cromwell and Justin Lazard. The album features the expanded original score from the MGM production composed and conducted by Edward Shearmur (Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Johnny English, Cruel Intentionsp, Escape from Dannemora, Charlie’s Angels, The Count of Monte Cristo), including over 30 minutes of previously unreleased music. Composer Edward Shearmur (Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Charlie’s Angels, Escape at Dannemora, Cruel Intentions, Johnny English) is reuniting with director Rodrigo Garcia on the upcoming drama Four Good Days. The film starring Glenn Close, Mila Kunis, Stephen Root and Joshua Leonard follows a mother who helps her daughter work through four crucial days of recovery from substance abuse. Garcia (Albert Nobbs) also co-wrote the screenplay with Eli Saslow and is producing the project with Jon Avnet (Fried Green Tomatoes, Up, Close and Personal), Marina Grasic (Welcome to Me), Jake Avnet and Jai Khann (The Black Prince).

Edward Shearmur (Charlie’s Angels, Miss Congeniality, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Johnny English) has recently scored the new Netflix original movie Falling Inn Love. The film is directed by Roger Kumble (Just Friends) and stars Christina Milian, Adam Demos and Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman. The romantic comedy revolves around a San Francisco exec who wins a New Zealand inn and ditches city life to remodel and flip the rustic property with help from a handsome contractor. Elizabeth Hackett and Hilary Galanoy wrote the screenplay. Robyn Snyder and Mel Turner are producing the Mar Vista Entertainment production.

Edward Shearmur has been tapped to score the Showtime limited series Escape at Dannemora. The show is directed by Ben Stiller (Tropic Thunder, Zoolander, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty), written by Brett Johnson (Ray Donovan) & Michael Tolkin (The Player, Deep Impact) and stars Benicio Del Toro, Patricia Arquette, Paul Dano, Bonnie Hunt, Eric Lange and David Morse. The 8-parter is based on the stranger-than-fiction account of a prison break in upstate New York in the summer of 2015 that spawned a massive manhunt for two convicted murderers.
