Opening in theaters nationwide today is the horror thriller Separation directed by William Brent Bell and starring Rupert Friend, Brian Cox, Mamie Gummer, Madeline Brewer, Eric T. Miller, Violet McGraw and Simon Quarterman. The film’s original music is composed by Brett Detar (Brahms: The Boy II, The Devil Inside, Wer). MovieScore Media has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Opening semi-wide in a couple of hundred theaters before coming out on VOD on May 21 is the drama Four Good Days directed by Rodrigo García and starring Mila Kunis, Glenn Close and Stephen Root. Edward Shearmur (Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Escape at DannemoraCruel Intentions, Charlie’s Angels, Johnny English) has composed the film’s original score. No word on a score release. Opening in select theaters today is the British drama Limbo written and directed by Ben Sharrock and starring Amir El-Masry, Vikash Bhai,Kwabena Ansah, Ola Orebiyi, Sidse Babett Knudsen and Kais Nashif. The film’s original music is composed by Hutch Demouilpied (The Levelling). No soundtrack album has been announced. The movie, which revolves around a young Syrian musician as he awaits the results of his asylum on a remote Scottish island, premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and is being distributed in the U.S. by Focus Features.

Also opening in select U.S. theaters is the Chinese spy thriller Cliff Walkers directed by Zhang Yimou and starring Zhang Yi, Yu Hewei, Qin Hailu and Zhu Yawen. Cho Young-wuk (Oldboy, The Handmaiden, Lady VengeanceThe Little Drummer GirlThirst) has composed the film’s original music. Opening in select theaters and on VOD today before coming out on Blu-ray and DVD on May 4 is the thriller The Virtuoso directed by Nick Stagliano and starring Anson Mount, Abbie Cornish, Anthony Hopkins, David Morse, Eddie Marsan and Richard Brake. The film’s original music is composed by Will Blair & Brooke Blair (Green RoomBlue RuinI Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore, Hold the Dark). No soundtrack album has been released. Another movie opening in select U.S. theaters (and virtual cinemas) is the German drama Berlin Alexanderplatz co-written and directed by Burhan Qurbani and starring Welket Bungué, Jella Haase, Albrecht Schuch, Joachim Król and Annabelle Mandeng. Dascha Dauenhauer (Jibril) has composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last year when the movie premiered at the 2020 Berlin Film Festival. Also opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the comedy Eat Wheaties! directed by Scott Abramovitch and starring Tony Hale, Paul Walter Hauser, Sarah Chalke, Danielle Brooks, Elisha Cuthbert, David Walton, Alan Tudyk, Robbie Amell and Kylie Bunbury. The film’s original music is composed by Kevin Krouglow (Trench 11, Full Out). A soundtrack album is in the works. The movie follows a man who leads a dull life until he accidentally stalks famous college friend, Elizabeth Banks, on social media and – with each failed attempt to prove he knows her – rediscovers more of himself and the true meaning of friendship. The comedy is being released by Screen Media Films.
